I am new here, just made my presentation in the specific area.
I am going to buy a 996 4S, tiptronic, 2003, 120.000 km.
Any suggestion what should I check?
I already asked the actual owner to make a check in Porsche.
Thank you for any suggestion.
Welcome!!! Great car!!
well, hopefully you checked the following before purchase… for your own best interest anyway
1- bore scoring cylinder walls
2- ims bearing… if not replaced do it along with rms bearing, clutch AOS and water pump. It’s expensive but not as much as a motor… these items are the key money pit areas
That's an exciting decision and we're sure you will enjoy it. When it comes to buying a used car, there are a few essential steps that you should take in order to make sure you purchase a car that is of good quality and in good condition. First of all, it's important to request the service records from the current owner. This way, you can ensure that it has been properly serviced and maintained throughout its lifetime and that the previous owner took good care of the car. Additionally, you should also ask for a vehicle history report which can tell you a lot about the car's past ownership and any potential issues or accidents it has had.
Another important step is to have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic. Even if the current owner provides you with a Porsche service report, a mechanic can look over the car and detect any potential issues or problems that would not be picked up by a service report. This will give you peace of mind that you are buying a car that won't need a lot of costly repairs in the near future.
Finally, it's important to test drive the car. This way, you can make sure that everything functions as it should and that you like the car's performance. If you're satisfied with the test drive, you can be reassured that you're about to make a good purchase. When you purchase a used car, it's important to request service records from the previous owner, get a vehicle history report, have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic, and take a test drive. Doing all of these steps will ensure that your purchase is a wise one that you can enjoy for many years to come.
In addition to these steps, it's important to also familiarize yourself with local laws related to purchasing used cars. This way, you can make sure that you are doing everything in a legal and responsible manner.
Thank you all for the answers and I appreciated the suggestions.
Actually, I asked the owner if he agrees in bringing the car to a Porsche Service.
This Is what I Hope we are going to do in the next days.
But before that we should agree on the price of the car. At present, I made and offer and I am waiting for an answer.
Make an offer, depending on what issues if any are present. It’s also your way out if you can’t figure out a settled amount
The purchase has been made. I am a happy owner of a 996 4S Basalt Black. Thank you for the advice and suggestions you have given me.
