Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im looking at a 99 996 and have read some posts about problems, referring to the RMS. What do I look for. The car only has 23k What exactly is the failure.. oil leak? .. ?? What will it cause How costly Does Porsche fix it for free? ? What are other things to Really Look at Closely!? I currently drive a 71 T

POST 2Original post

Hi....hope you still get this on time. RMS leak looks like a regular leak under the engine. Seepage alone can the RMS too. I don't think Porsche is fixing these if out of warranty anymore, however, I don't think the cost is the end of the world. Nor does it effect the performance of the car.....it's just a leak. Should run b/w 750 and 850. Many people wait until the clutch needs to be done.....it's a cinch when the clutch is being taken out. I think the actual number of rms incidents is over exaggerated. Knocking on wood now. Best of luck, J

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info. However, I have decided to wait on a 996 and turn my 71 into a Daily driver w/ AC. Thanks
