Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I reset the light and things will be fine for hundreds of miles.
Leading evidence: 'Reset light and things will be fine' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuel trims' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Your code P1123 is not related.....check the fuel trims before doing any clearing of fault codes...fuel trims will tell you if rich or lean......

With these cars ages and the fact that in 2000 the tech to build cats was changing,, I would bet that on a ton of the cars out there the cats are nearly if not dead ....

The DME will run the "SAI Self Test" when hot at idle and all things are normalized,,,those are the best conditions for the DME to see that all the components of the system are working as designed ..so is totally normal..

As the cats age, the secondary cat sensor is seeing less and less efficiency, when it fires off the hot idle test not surprised the number might go out of spec,
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi. I have a 1999 C2. I recently took the engine out to replace Vario-Cam pads along with the other "while you're in there" stuff. A few times since then I have noticed that the secondary air injection pump will, seemingly randomly, come on while idling coming to a stop at a light or in traffic. Then the check engine light comes on. I get a P1123 code. I reset the light and things will be fine for hundreds of miles. Then a repeat of the same.
I have researched the P1123 code and am aware of the usual suspects (MAF, leaking injector, high fuel pressure). I have not yet seen anyone report receiving this code along with the SAI pump running. It is my understanding that the SAI pump should only run on cold start. It seems that pumping air into the exhaust is what is triggering my code.
I am mostly curious as to what parameters the DME looks at to trigger the SAI pump. If it is a temp sensor, which one, and could I be having an intermittent issue with the sensor.
I have Durametric. Let me know if you have any insight on what may be going on or any additional questions for me.
P.S.
I live in California, and have passed SMOG star on the rolling road between instances of getting the P1123 code.
The SAI pump does indeed run at cold start to assist in heating up the cats......but that is not where the DME runs the "self test"..

I noticed mine doing this as well. It's where I started blowing a code. I forget which one. Turns out the bank 2 head was cracked at the SAI port. All the fan, vacuum, and electronics worked fine.
