IMHO keeping the engine clean from contaminents allows it to breathe better and allows it to peform to its maximum, and therfore provides it a better chance to live to a grand old age.

In much the same way, despite the long life of modern oils, on a new car I'd have a first oil change around 1,500 miles.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For an 04 MY car it's 12K or
2
Years (which ever comes first) for a minor
or
24K or 4 years for a major.
The "Annual" for cars driven less than 9K a year is only for cars up to MY03
Plugs are at 48K or 4 years on MY01 or later
To say when it's next due we need to know when the last one was. I suspect it was not time related but mileage related at 24K.
Even though the mileage has been extended on the latest cars, I still feel happier with an annual service.
And, if I was buying a used Porsche, I'd prefer to see an annual stamp in the book, irrespective of the mileage covered. In much the same way, despite the long life of modern oils, on a new car I'd have a first oil change around 1,500 miles.
personally I would never leave oil in my car for more than 12 months, oil is the cars life blood and I just don't think it's worth taking the risk.
Ant.
Why?? If the manufacturer has spent 40 + years developing and engine that can work/survive/last/cope with etc etc etc with such service interval why do you not only want to reduce the serving intervals but also by so much?? Presumable you have little faith in both Porsche and the oil manufacture.
I don't have much faith in Porsche. But that's not the reason.
IMHO keeping the engine clean from contaminents allows it to breathe better and allows it to peform to its maximum, and therfore provides it a better chance to live to a grand old age. If the oil is not clean then it has contaminents in it.
I see it like this: it costs me about £50 twice a year at max and maybe 4 hours of total weekend time to do it. This is a small insurance premium for an an engine that could cost £7000 to replace. And it's not just an ordinary engine, it's a Porsche and it's driven like a Porsche.......hard and fast. So no matter what the oil companies or Porsche say, its peace of mind.
