If you came to your 991 from a
981
(particularly a
Cayman
), or you still have your
981
, can you tell me how the seats compare from one to the other? I understand they're basically the same seats; what I'm particularly interested in is leg room in the 991 vs. the
981
. I'm 6 feet tall, and I have really long legs, and my
Cayman
has just about enough legroom if I have the seat back as far as it can go (which is not ideal for longer trips, as I found out this weekend; after 7 or 8 hours on the road, I really wanted to be able to change the seat position).
Does the driver's seat in the 991 go back any further than the driver's seat in the
981
? It seems like it should be able to, with the space between the seat back and the rear seat. Also, is there any difference along these lines between the 991.1 and the 991.2? I'm looking at a 2018
Carrera
4S, but it's a long way from here, and I probably won't go to see it in person before I pull the trigger on it (it's a CPO).
Thanks for your input.
Not exactly applicable, but close. I have a 718Spyder and a
992
GTS
. I previously had a
981S
. The room in the
718
is identical to that of my
981
. The seat in my
992
goes back a good 6” more than the seat in my
718
goes. In the mid-engine cars, the seat is limited by the firewall. In the
992
the front seat can go all the way back to the rear seats.
I also used a tapemeasure. The distance from the front of the seat rail (bolted to the floor) to the accelerator pedal is the same in both cars (22”), and the rails are the same length (19”). So the difference is that the seat in the
911
can move all the way to the back of the rail, while in the
Spyder
, the seat back hits the firewall before it’s fully at the back of the rail.

Thanks! I appreciate the detailed reply and, as far as I've been able to tell, there's no significant difference in the floor pan of the 991 vs. the
992
, so I'm sure the same would apply to the 991 (and responses I've gotten to the same question on another P-car forum tend to confirm that). Interesting what you noticed about the length and placement of the seat rails: I assumed that they used the same seat hardware, and I figured that the seats in a 991 would be able to travel the full length of the rail, because the firewall is behind the rear seats. Good to know!
