Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I cant find on vacuum diagram, but when I tested smokes like a chimney. Has anyone else replaced and can provide me the part number?

POST 2Original post

I believe the part number is: 999 230 498 40 These appear to be different between the 996.1 & 996.2 though. (1 piece vs 2-piece) It's in the Intake Distributor diagram. @cun65458 replaced the internal o-ring using a kit. Perhaps he will chime in.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, that looks like it. On the diagram it shows on the opposite end on the driver’s side compared to what it is on my car. It’s a 996.1 so maybe that is the difference.

POST 4Original post

No, both the 996.1 & 996.2 are on the Bank 1 air distributor near cylinder 1, and the alternator.

POST 5Original post

Only 99 cars used the elbow. After that was a one piece design. 99611015152

Almost correct, only 98 and "early 99" models used the elbow, late 99 ( >>99xs6 26671 >>99xs6 55500) and all others were one piece...

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I get this diagram when I search on a Porsche dealership website, but 23 is the same part number. Also says fits my year. On what site did you find that diagram?

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 18628236

part #3 has different numbers for different years. https://www.design911.co.uk/diagrams/d/40850/

POST 9Original post

Most every one here uses Auto Atlanta for the parts diagrams, they are much more user friendly than others. The drawing on your diagram is for a 2.5 liter 97-99 Boxster is why the Power Brake Booster fitting is on the wrong end....
