You can also use PIWIS to recode the Instrument Cluster to "fixed wing" so the there will be no wing warning...This saves a lot of custom wiring....

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

sorry it's a trad from my tuto in french
here is the modification to do, to not to have a default on the TDB when mounting a fixed fin
I took the message from my post but basically everything is there.
depending on the desire to have or not a 3rd brake light in the fin and that one or the other lights up there may be some modification to do but nothing complicated
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------
in a while I plan to mount a fixed duck tail fin but necessarily have a defect in the TDB, it's not my thing so I racked my brains....
and I would also like the aileron brake light to come on at the same time as the other 3rd brake light so as not to be bothered at the CT.
after studying the electrical diagram I found !!!
you have to work on that!
it is this end of the harness, which starts from the connector on the right in the engine bay (connector X23) and which goes to the aileron control, the fan, the light and the 4th brake light.
for the diagrams: the aileron control part
the 3rd / 4th brake light part
the internal light part
the engine bay ventillator
the X23 connector
to simulate the open aileron, wire 2 (0.5 Gr/Br) should be connected to wire 5 (0.5 Br) of connector X23
to force the ignition of the 3rd and 4th brake lights, it would be necessary to connect wire 6 (0.5 B/Or) of connector X23 with the wire (0.5 Br/Bk) which comes from the brake light of the fin and with the wires 5 (0.5 Br) of connector X23.
I discussed it with Clement from MCG and with a pro auto electronics guy
my mod is good
in the meantime I learned that there was a ready-made Porsche harness
ref: 99661207004
Harness for fixed wing with brake lights in the wing (but which only lights the 3rd brake light of the wing)
the price is 177
there is also another ref without 3rd light in the fin
but I don't remember the ref knowing that I was going to have a light in the fin but she has to find herself
but hey I wanted to turn on the 2 3rd brake lights
I therefore found an original harness (obviously cheaper than the ready-made harness modification of the 996 engine bonnet harness for fixed spoiler without Cool fault)
and so here we go:
modification of the beam so as not to have the aileron defect
already as we no longer feed the aileron motor, we can reduce cables 1 (blue/green) and 3 (yellow/green) by isolating them.
we attack the 3 contacts
in order not to have the aileron fault, it is therefore necessary to simulate an open aileron by connecting the cable 2 grey/brown and 5 brown of the contact
and cut the closed aileron contact
cut the contact between the cables 4 grey/green and 5 brown of the ignition insulate cables
now the modification to have the 2 3rd brake light on
you have to work on the 3rd contact, cut it and connect the 3 cables together
brown/black, orange/brown and brown
then it is possible to reduce the length of certain unused cables, isolate them, isolate them all and clean them
now a harness as I want
install
real test of the lighting of the 4 brake lights. OK
You can also use PIWIS to recode the Instrument Cluster to "fixed wing" so the there will be no wing warning...This saves a lot of custom wiring....
And like you said there is a factory wiring harness for the fixed wing.....
i know for coding fixed wing with PIWIS, but i don't have , and in france for technical controle all light
all lamps present must work so have to make the 4 stops work
I did the same thing with junk yard harness for my aftermarket cup deck and wing. Luckily i did not need the brake light so it was easier. Nice write up.
