I tried that trick again by disconnecting the battery but no luck.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

My passenger door won't open. I can hear the door unlocking and locking but it won't open from either inside or outside. The mechanical parts work so it's definitely electronic. When I rebuilt the engine it was sitting w/o power and it opened somehow. I tried that trick again by disconnecting the battery but no luck. I intend on replacing it but I have to get the door open first. Thoughts?
If somehow you can remove the door panel, you would be able to get to the mechanical locking mechanism to open the door, assuming your seat is not in the way.
I have a cabriolet, and there's no seat and the panel is off. If you're referring to the bowden cable, pulling that makes no difference. I'm hoping for an override lever or something directly on the module.
Sounds like the door latch has failed and is jammed-up and latched to the striker. I would get a helper and push in/out on the outer door while you pull on the Bowden cable. Also
try the lock/unlock switch on the dash. I
cant remember if there is anyway to remove part of the door latch assembly while its attached to the door.
I would also recommend that you remove the exterior door handle which would give you access to the door latch lock.
I actually just resolved this yesterday. I'm not even sure what I did but it worked. I was examining the replacement and was feeling around on the damaged one in comparison. I was about to remove the door handle actuator by sliding the sleeve down and popping it off when it opened. I was leaning on the door from the inside and nearly fell out when it did! I think it's exactly what you said, when I started to remove the connector I must have extended it by a mm enough to trigger the door and boom, almost on my ***. Replaced with used part and all is good now! Thanks for chiming in.
