Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I understand a couple of years ago it was half the price to go 997, but nowadays people are asking for >£2000 for 20 year old used seats, and you can get brand new Recaros for the same price.

Suggestion
Disconnect your battery before starting, don't reconnect until complete, otherwise you'll get the airbag light.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I’ve bought a pair of 987 / 997 seats from e bay, to try in my 996 turbo, i pick them up next week, any advice on what to do with the airbags? Are they easy to remove, without them going bang!
You can't really remove them as the cover is the airbag, you will be left with a massive hole.
They are fine to be left in there as you won't be wiring them up anyway, just a shame as they probably weigh a couple of kilos each.
You'll need to use the 996 seat belt buckle.
Disconnect your battery before starting, don't reconnect until complete, otherwise you'll get the airbag light.
To connect power to your seats is really easy!
Take two wires with spade connectors each end. Find power and earth and connect from seat to the power plug. No need to splice, cut or swap connectors, despite what people will say on here!
If the seats are 14way or 18way then you will need to get a can signal to them, you can take this from the climate panel.
Good thread here if you are in that situation. If you have bought seats with manual adjustment, follow above.
Porsche 997.1 retrofit seats with memory function - PFF
Hello to the round, I would like to retrofit a 997.1 with memory function seats. Now I noticed that there is a plug missing under the driver's seat to control the seat. Does anyone have experience? Where can I get the plug? At Porsche in the parts store…

This is a great upgrade, the difference is night and day and its really easy if they only have the powered tilt. I got some heated ones as i wanted to retain seat heating, makes things a little more complicated but still very easy!
Anyone fitted 997 "comfort " seats to the 996?
Just wondering how much better they'd be than the 996 comfort seats. The 997 Sports seats are more than twice the price if you can find them.
Looking for a pair of Savannah or Black if any one has some.
Sorry to highjack, but can I ask people who ended up with 997 seats if they considered 3rd party folding buckets (Recaro/Corbeau) and why they ultimately went with the 997 seat? I understand a couple of years ago it was half the price to go 997, but nowadays people are asking for >£2000 for 20 year old used seats, and you can get brand new Recaros for the same price.
Because they fit straight in with trims for the oem look.
I think mods that keep with oem add more to the value, as they are high quality and fit well both aesthetically and physically.
Are they not the same as Carrera Sports Seats ? (Wingback)
I'm talking about the normal Carrera non wingback seats that you can pick up for much less. I had a set in my Cayman S but I can't remember what they were like unfortunately.
