Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

At least at this point in time, I suspect this has little impact on people that race cars - most will still use 6-speed and match the gear to the condition on the track - can people comment on this point, and what they think will take for the track cars to start using tip.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Porsche can only hope it sells as well as the recently released record breaking Cayman S.

POST 2Original post

Sounds mighty nice - long live the 911 . Now I wonder what a Turbo package would do in a Cayman S ?

POST 3Original post

The bad boy... How about the 'overboost' on the sport chrono package? Now THAT is a magic button approach (an additional 44 lb*ft of torque!)... Paul

POST 4Original post

Just in time for the US launch of the BMW M6. It's going to be a wild summer for German muscle cars! I doubt, however, that anything will be able to touch the GT3.

POST 5Original post

This is beautiful looking car. The side view and front intakes show hints of the Cayman design. There is much to like in this new turbo. CP

POST 6Original post

Like the last line 'the record breaking Cayman '. I guess its doing better than some say.

POST 7Original post

man..i could get 2 caymans for that price! pretty sweet, but dont those of you who use your cayman as your daily driver, think the cayman makes more sense? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif

POST 9Original post

I have one on 'order'. Should be one of the first cars here. I believe that some launch cars will be customer configured. I have to admit the early configuration I've placed is conservative for resale. Silver over black. -Pete

POST 10Original post

Well I'm going to say it, if I had $123K to spend on a car, this would be my choice, and I'll also stick my little neck out even further, I'd get the Tip. I think this would be a helluva daily driver and a much more comfortable tourer than the GT3. You can sit in traffic with composure, and when the time is right, nail it and get kicked back in the seat. The GT3 will be a great car, but you really need to track it regularly to get the most out of it. Some of the 997 Turbo's styling is a little fussy, but will probably look good 'in the steel'. I'd still choose the Cayman over the 997/997S, but this Turbo is now in a league of its own, especially with the new interior which is so much better than the 996. Thanks for the posting K-Man S, especially since Cayman Club is my only internet Porsche source, I depend on you and mpollard to keep me up to date! Edited by - DaveC on 02/13/2006 11:37:10 AM

POST 11Original post

Anyone else notice the lower middle grill on the Turbo. When that part is available, it could be trimmed to fit our Caymans.

POST 12Original post

Please correct me if I am wrong, but would this be the first Porsche car where the tiptronic version is faster ? Assuming that is the case, it just confirms what we all suspected - computers ARE faster than humans /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/teeth_smile.gif At least at this point in time, I suspect this has little impact on people that race cars - most will still use 6-speed and match the gear to the condition on the track - can people comment on this point, and what they think will take for the track cars to start using tip. and be faster.

POST 13Original post

Hey Pete how's that Milltek exhaust coming? Any teaser sound clips?

POST 14Original post

turbo for many of us would probably be our logical step up, if we ever decide to move up a notch in the Porsche line. I am yet soooooo confortable with the specs of my cayman (compared to say the std and the S carrera) that I am not too moved. Give me the turbo for a little more $ or dont give me anything. Any of you guys feel the same?
