Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

One of mine broke when I was changing the bulb for an Mot, fortunately I was able to bend what was left up slightly so it touched the bottom of the bulb.

Worked just fine and wont be replacing the harness until this ‘fix’ fails!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I am having issues with my rear lights. I think there is a short somewhere as with the lights on, when I press the break pedal other bulbs light up.
However before I try and solve that problem I have another issue.
The picture shows the double pole holder for the side lights and break light.
The top metal piece has snapped and therefore the bulb doesn't touch.
A new harness with the five bulb holders for a c4s from Porsche is 140+vat.
Has anyone had to repair a holder before?
Does anyone know of an electrical place where a replacement holder can be pursched from and then soldered in or
I have found a standard 996 harness which has 4 bulb holders. I assume the side light / break light holder will be the same and I could solder it in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Off hand i think its the same holder , its a twin filament offset pin bulb on both so a cut and join should work fine , if in doubt get a picture of the standard bulb holder and compare it .
Other lights on with brake light will be a poor earth or the pins in the bulb holder touching .
I’ve got the same issue on my rear side light, the contact has snapped - what a poor design.
Is there a fix for this? I’ve thought about buying a secondhand loom from a narrow body 996 and using one of the sockets…
Secondhand ones are so expensive I decided to buy new from Rose Passion….
One of mine broke when I was changing the bulb for an Mot, fortunately I was able to bend what was left up slightly so it touched the bottom of the bulb. I did this as a temporary fix to get through the Mot but then forgot about it and it's been fine for a good few years.
How much was the loom from Rosepassion, if you don't mind me asking?
Yeah, I tried for ages to get it to work but I can only get it working if I push the bulb.
I paid £200 posted. I really wanted a secondhand loom that I could remove a socket from, but they’re too much money.
Same problem 6 months ago just before i was going to Le Mans so needed a quick fix.
Solder a load of extra solder to the bottom of the bulb and insert as normal. Worked just fine and wont be replacing the harness until this ‘fix’ fails!
