use of "the German pronunciation" - with TWO syllables - understand that a real German pronunciation virtually removes any hint of the letter 'r' ...i.e., "Poah-sha" ...NOT "Pore-sha", which is just another Americanized, but two-syllable, version of the name.

What I found nice was to actually see somebody use the PDK.

but if a word ends in a vowel, you must now use the r that you saved earlier....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think he does it intentionally. He knows. He doesn't care. He is an American gearhead. (Not a bad thing.)
I don't think he quite gets the point of the PDK, though. He compares shifting it in manual mode with auto mode as though there is a difference in how quickly it shifts.
I was more shocked with the guy Porsche sent out. Any one of us could have done a better job.
Well, I have always pronounced Porsche correctly. And I have owned a few of their fine automobiles. And I was invited to the Bay Area introduction to the new 911 PDK.
Money speaks volumes, however. Notice that Jay can say Porsche however he wants, and he still gets to use one of their cars for days ...
And if Porsche doesn't care how he pronounces their name, why should we?
Hey, Leno's from Boston... at least he didn't say "Porscher"....thay have this conservation of "r"s thing going on out there... If there is an r in a word, don't pronounce it... as in "pak the ca".... but if a word ends in a vowel, you must now use the r that you saved earlier.... Anyone remember JFK talking about "Cubar"?
Ol.....Jay does a pretty good informative commercial for Porsche......just a shame he can not pronunciate very well.....LOL....he has too much time and money on his hands....
Maybe not. Porsche is a German name, pronounced in Germany as a 2-syllable word. Changing its pronunciation when saying the name while speaking a different language violates no rules. Notwithstanding the many devotees who choose to say the name in German, which is a sign of respect.
If you've ever pronounced the "s" at the end of the name of the French town or race called LeMans (the "s" is silent in French) then you wasted your money if you bought that arrogant T-Shirt that says "Pors-che is a 2 Syllable Word".
Leno may know the proper way to say Porsche, but his habit of saying it with one syllable is so ingrained, he can never change. He learned to say it that way and so that is how he is going to say it from now on.
Yeah, what the heck man..... I was yelling at the screen. That guy told us absolutley nothing about PDK, how it works or why you'd want one. I could have smoked his presentation.
My favorite line:
"I'm not sure why anyone would buy a car of this caliber and not want a manual transmission in it, but......"
I was struck by this line: "I don't know why anyone would buy a car of this caliber and NOT have a manual transmission, but maybe if you drive in heavy traffic daily this would be for you" (I'm paraphrasing). Hmmmmmm.....
For those of you loosing sleep at night about the way 'Porsche' is being pronounced by the unwashed masses all around you, remember that "Porsh" (single syllable) is simply an American-ized pronunciation. BUT, before you display a holier-than-thou attitude about your
more refined
use of "the German pronunciation" - with TWO syllables - understand that a real German pronunciation virtually removes any hint of the letter 'r' ...i.e., "Poah-sha" ...NOT "Pore-sha", which is just another Americanized, but two-syllable, version of the name.
Also, it might serve you well to examine your own pronunciations of
other
German names to determine whether you're at least being consistent in your presumed faithfulness to German pronunciations...
For instance,
Do you pronounce it "Vee Dubya", or "Fow Veh" ?
Do you pronounce it "Bee em dubya" or "Beh em veh" ?
Do you pronounce it "Mur say dees" or "Mer tsee dees" ?
Do you pronounce it "Volks wa gin" or "Folks-vah gun" ?
( ...and speaking of posers, I just love those who think "Volks waah gun" is the more sophisticated,
German
pronunciation of "Volkswagen". Puh-leeeeeeze !!! )
...and as a previous poster mentioned; would you say "Paris" or "Par-ee" ?
But…that’s French, which is a whole other can of worms for another day.
I was born in Germany and am fluent in German. My last name ends with an e. I have a Porsh.
If you want to be technical the e on the end is pronounced more like the i in it than aaa.
But hey, we say Porshe is a German company. I guess you Porshaaa guys properly call it Deutchland?
Really, pronounce it the way that makes you feel best, either way is OK.
