Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've just fitted a set to mine, and as far as I'm concerned, they'll out live both me and the car.
Leading evidence: 'Install set' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install set' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used studs with copper flashed nuts thus making it easy to take the manifold off in future.

Just to check that it's ok to use M8 X 25mm Flanged Stainless Steel bolt when changing the 996 exhaust manifold as the Porsche one I believe is M8 X 28mm.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
Just to check that it's ok to use M8 X 25mm Flanged Stainless Steel bolt when changing the 996 exhaust manifold as the Porsche one I believe is M8 X 28mm.
Also can someone confirm that the bolt from the manifold to the cat is M8 X 30mm please?
Thank you,
Phil

said. I’ve recently done mine and used titanium studs and the copper nuts so there’s no issues in the future getting the manifolds off. Definitely worth looking into if your at the point of changing them
Yes and yes is your answers. Once you put stainless in you'll never have an issue removing them so long as you gunk them up with copper grease. All this copper and shitanium is overkill IMHO and possibly likely to cause future problems as shitanium and aluminium don't get on, but do love fusing together.
The exhaust guy who did the gundo mod for me told me that the tradeoff is stainless becomes brittle in time due to the heat cycles. How many years before that's an issue, that's the question.
Well the headers, cats and silencers get hotter than the manifold bolts and they're all stainless. The manifold bolts don't really get that hot at all as all the heat soaks in to the Aluminium cylinder heads. This is why the steel bolts are so hard to get out when they are originally seized in because use you can't get enough heat in to them with a torch to budge them out the blocks.
I'm trying to imagine the circumstances where you'd snap one?
I've just fitted a set to mine, and as far as I'm concerned, they'll out live both me and the car.
I may be being a little paranoid, but I’ve snapped enough TI bolts on split rims to never install them voluntarily. Aluminium and Ti will electrolytically corrode together, so those studs are staying there once they’ve been in for a while. Obviously Ti is very hard, so if you ever snap one it will be very challenging to drill it out, much worse than drilling out a steel stud.
Maybe with copper coated nuts, the nuts will undo off the studs and it won’t matter the studs are fused into the head? If you snap a stud it’s probably game over, or at least head off.
Aside from your perma-studs, is that a ceramic coated manifold?
That's how I saw it - fit and forget, the Ti having greater potential longevity than SS - albeit we're talking the limits of diminishing returns here.
Yes, Zircotec ceramic coated headers and cats.
