I'd test drive both if you haven't already, because even though the numbers aren't that far apart, it's possible the driving characteristics are very different.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Black on Black 09 911 C2 with PASM
A) Base 911 - I think 09 base power /TQ ( 355HP/287 LB feet ) is very close to 08 911S and thats good enough and 911 handles great and is little bit more roomier
B) 18" wheels for quieter ride and little more compliance
C) PASM- Comfy in normal and ability to stiffen suspension for better control
Options
1) PDK- Love the dual clutch
2) Sport Chrono Plus- goes well with PDK
3) Black Adaptive Sport seats- Comfy
4) Parking assist- parking lots etc
5) Dimming mirrors- Convenience at night due to ess glare
6) Heated Steering Wheel - have it on bmw 5 series, like it
7) Heated Seats- same as above
8) Universal audio interface- IPOD
9) Bluetooth- Very useful
10) Storage compartment with Model Logo - to add some style
11) Muti function Smooth leather Steering wheel- PDK - convenience for bluetooth
12) Rear center console - black- for some gloss in the car
13) Full Leather - never thought I would care for it but when i saw it it looks really rich and gives an upscale look to the car but 3k ouch
Anyone with 911 experience or cayman S options, pl feel free to comment on the options
I wouldn't throw a woman with 1/3 of those options out of bed (Seat Warmers are always a +):hilarious:, and your 911 can always have a place in my garage if you don't want it.
Come to think of it I wouldn't throw that 911 out of bed either. Great choice..... Enjoy.
Go for the aluminium handbrake 11 (I think XFP) and sports exhaust! The bigger wheels will also look better!
However I will strongly recommend the S version. Better equipment (standard 19s and PASM) and engine noise. With PDK, you can play with a Ferrari 360 Modena!

Hey man,
Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to your last private message... I was out of the country for a while and not very active on the forums.
The options sound nice... but with all those options, is it that much more to move up to the Carrera S? I'd test drive both if you haven't already, because even though the numbers aren't that far apart, it's possible the driving characteristics are very different.
Right now, a new 2008 911S can be had at a pretty price. I saw a cab at the dealership yesterday for $82K. In 2006, a base 911 was nearly $80K.
I didn't look at the options, but I think the MSRP was $109K or $119K.
If you like the look of the Full Leather, then you really need to get the Supple Leather option. It's only $395 more and after seeing one with this option, its the only way I would go if I ever ordered one.
Stick with the Carrera and 18" wheels.
I like the black gauge faces, black calipers and 345 HP to boot.
Thats only 10 HP less than the 997.1 S model.
Plus PDK and Sport Chrono you are golden.
Only go for the S model if you are going to put in some serious track time.
It is a monster!
My Carrera build date is 1/28/2009
ThX for the responses
I test drove the 911 base, 911 S and also 911 S with the Sport PASM- all PDK and I did like the PDK transmission with Sport Chrono
I enjoyed PASM on the cayman s with 18" wheels, it delivered a very smooth ride and still controlled the lean when cornering etc. Fmarshal was absolutely right when he said PASM is a good choice for the street
Sport PASM is not to my liking, I agree with Auto car review of SPASM, in Normal mode it is still rough riding , i think SPASM suspension is more suited to track
On the 911 S vs 911 Base, I felt the base had enough grunt and torque and ofcourse the 911S has little more midrange torque and regular PASM on the S is supple enough in Normal mode
Suneet, S is extra 8k over the base for bigger engine, red calipers and 19"wheels
Well then the '09 Cayman S probably has enough grunt and torque, and it has the engine in the right place.
So why a 911? Need those back seats for groceries?
Or have you been listening to those pretentious Porsche owners and you're stepping up to a real Porsche?
Walter,
I used to own a 07 cayman S, I test drive the 08 911 and 09 911 PDK cars
IMO, Porshaa has done enough engineering to make the 911 handle very very well and I prefer its handling to CS. It has that unique and probaly addictive rear engine feel and for my needs it is nice, less clautrophobic and sporty enough
