Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took out the GT plate diff and fitted a wavetrac.
Leading evidence: 'Install wavetrac' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install wavetrac' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

otherwise it's standard spec, in those days there were only a few options
the Heated Seats and Limited Slip DIff were the rarer options
time to share some pics
I don’t seem to have the option codes for Bi-Xenon or headlight washers, but there are washers fitted. Was it a common retrofit? Seems a lot of work for not much benefit
Yep - As I said when you posted the original listing. Mine was the same but I was also unaware of it at the time. It's only when you start looking at other 996s you realise.
@911UK
- As far as I'm aware, ASR wasn't standard on his car, neither were the hardback sports seats or 3 spoke steering wheel.
I didn't know that LSD was even an option. It seems this was only available in two wheel drive cars, the four wheel drive cars relying on the front axle to spread traction.
I'd much rather have a mechanical LSD than newer tech such as PTV (Porsche Torque Vectoring) which in its basic form just applied the brake to the inside rear wheel to stop it spinning.
Did you buy from a bloke from Harrogate who had moved south? I rang him a few months back thinking he was local…..he’d moved and forgotten to update the ad and was somewhere a few hours away!
This was my point though said in a more roundabout way. They last 5 minutes on a GT, so don't expect 25 years out of a carrera. Infact I didn't even drive on it, just took it out.
Look at wavetrac if you don't want it rebuilding or clunking like a plate diff. A wavetrac will lock when a wheel comes off the ground or if you lose drive on a loose surface and are maintenance free like a quaife.
