Ultimately I wouldn’t buy unless PPF replaced and windscreen replaced (with an original screen, not the copy screen that had been fitted).

Contemplating a change I was wondering what the Forums thoughts on this were ? I have already been down and had a look , we have even agreed a price for my 4.0 GTS . The car is very competitively priced and I was wondering if I am perhaps overlooking something or better still someone may recognise the car . Any comments or thoughts would be very welcome . SB24AXS is the registration number . https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...

POST 2Original post

Do it! I’ve just brought one too, end of an era theses things……

POST 3Original post

I have a 4.0 GTS and a GT4 RS. I don't think you're overlooking anything, unless you haven't had a decent test drive. You really do need to know what the 4RS is like, warts and all. If I could only have one of mine, I honestly don't know which I would let go of. Both absolutely brilliant, but at the same time very different. I think the spec, mileage and age of that car are just great. Really like the colour combinations, and the non-WP looks. Not sure you could go far wrong for that sort of money just now.

SB24AXS is the registration number . https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch... Nice one - lovely car. Based on the reg number - I think it was first registered in Scotland - and so was probably Finmacs car. He had it a short while as a gateway to SRS allocation. From the photos it's on PS4S - other than that - do a buy if you want a bit of spice in your life.

POST 5Original post

This car was registered in Glasgow and I believe Finmac gets most of his cars from Aberdeen. Totally different dealer groups. The only question I would be asking for lots more details on is the fact it has racing harnesses. Why?. What tractors has it done? Is this why there are no Cup 2s on it? I would want the wheels off and an extensive examination of the brakes. Discs, pads, the lot. The whole shooting match. That’s the only red flag I can see that I would be on enquiry about. Other than that a lovely car. It’s hardcore - I have an SRS, so softer, but OMG that engine in that chassis and that gearbox. Magnificent.

POST 6Original post

Track days / not tractors! Also the no cup 2s? Is that because they were totally done in on track? I don’t know. Just saying what I see, go and ask all the questions.

I swapped to ps4s before I collected my srs as I know others also did. If not doing track work I wasn't convinced cup2s were the best tyre for uk roads and 12 months later I have never felt like I have missed out on any grip.

Finmac Did you have the harnesses fitted out of interest?

POST 17Original post

Hotrods1974 said: Finmac Did you have the harnesses fitted out of interest? Roddy, drivers seat harness comes with the Clubsport pack - as does the fire extinguisher and of course the cage. I paid extra to get the cage in blue and that was a little disappointing as it’s quite a dark blue - with hindsight I’d probably have gone with grey and make it more of a “feature”, aside from that there wasn’t much I’d have changed about the car - it did look really good in the flesh

POST 18Original post

Looks to be a good spec, I don't really see the justification of the £10k Weissach pack option these? Am I missing something, Is it a false economy not to buy a Weissach car, will it positively impact residuals going forward over a regular GT4 RS?

Am I missing something, Is it a false economy not to buy a Weissach car, will it positively impact residuals going forward over a regular GT4 RS? It appears that WP is one of the few extras that holds a decent chunk of its value down the line, more so than Mag wheels/ceramic brakes. In my own experience WP definitely makes the car easier to sell second hand unless there’s a decent price differential between non WP and WP cars at the same age/miles…

Finmac, How does the SRS stack up against the 4RS? From an owners perspective?

POST 22Original post

Can anyone advise on how the car ends up down south, still in the network? Did the current dealer buy it off Aberdeen, with Aberdeen making a profit - which would then bump up the price, as there's now two sets of dealer margin in the price? Surely that leaves the margin for the current seller a bit low for them?

POST 23Original post

Appreciate the detailed update. Bad attitude of the original sales person aside (which would wind me up too) it sounds like everything is decently fixable and knowing the previous owner as well it sounds proceed-able ?

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just to bring everyone up to speed . Last week was pretty much wasted on account of the salesman's attitude as to what he would and wouldn't do to bring the car up to the standard you would expect from an OPC . Basically the car has suffered from standing around both in Aberdeen and High Wycombe and some botched cleaning by an idiot . Bird Mess residue has stained the rear wing , the Porsche Transfer on the rear screen has been damaged with the leg on the H missing and the PPF on the bonnet could do with replacing . This last item will require a new bonnet sticker to be affixed to the new PPF . None of these are major items . Finmac has kindly been in contact regarding the cars previous history and I thank him for his kindness in doing this , it's greatly appreciated . I had gone as far as insuring the Car last week and when phoning to leave a deposit with the balance to be paid upon collection I was stunned to detect a change of attitude . Apparently the Bonnet Badge upon investigation a £45 item , could perhaps be hundreds of pounds ?? The rear screen transfer is an out of stock item in Germany until the last quarter of the year and the PPF was in their estimation fit for purpose and like the Badge and Transfers I would have to pay for any replacement . Furthermore the margins were so tight in the deal that car was effectively sold as seen . I simply told them to keep the car and perhaps too promptly cancelled the insurance because an hour or so later they were back on the phone . Obviously the Salesman had discovered the real price of the bonnet sticker and he undertook to order from Germany the rear window sticker . The PPF I would have to pay for myself . Unusually for me I cooled towards the Car and did nothing further until today when knowing the Salesman was on holiday I went back to properly appraise the car . I got down on my knees and went all around the car with a microfibre cloth and apart from the items mentioned , the overall condition of the car is quite exceptional . Apart from a couple of light grazes to the front splitter which Finmac already advised me of its unblemished . I then spoke to another Salesman who to be fair inspired a bit more confidence with his attitude and knowledge . Firstly the extensive bird mess residue I only spotted today can be removed with a combination of heat and machine polishing . He has told me this has been done many times in the past and he guarantees me successful rectification without any application of new paint . The Rear Screen Transfer he can simply have replicated by a Company they already use . A Vinyl Sticker I suppose ultimately is a Vinyl Sticker . As always any thoughts are welcome . From experience the PPF on the front bonnet which I believe to have been damaged by application of a pressure lance to remove bird mess , I would be happier carrying out myself . I have an Aston Martin bloke I have used several times before and I have already priced the work which is a substantial saving on what the OPC quote . As it stands tonight the Car has been taken off sale in order for them to address the markings on the rear wing and the rear screen transfer and I am going to speak with the Salesman again on Monday . Edited by reddiesel on Saturday 16th August 19:54

AmazingGrace said: Finmac, How does the SRS stack up against the 4RS? From an owners perspective? Horses for courses I’d say. I love convertible cars and as such that gives the SRS a big advantage. I also wouldn’t track either (also have a Caterham). If I did track work then the 4RS would win between them. The SRS is a bit more compliant on the road but I’d say the 4RS looks marginally better, to my eye anyway. To be honest, they are both awesome machines and I suspect neither would disappoint!

Ultimately I wouldn’t buy unless PPF replaced and windscreen replaced (with an original screen, not the copy screen that had been fitted). Initially they said it’s proof the PPF has done its job and would be up to me to have replaced.. Eventually all was agreed with the OPC and I’m very happy, I wasn’t bothered about full PPF (just scared about the carbon bonnet), but having Ilived with it I now appreciate how much it protects the paint from swirls. Remarkable they claim they will never take a car in as AUC if not a porsche OEM screen. Also they claim it would invalidate a warranty This just proves how much utter shyte Porsche talk. Not all, but many. A dealer near me in particular - the capital en Ecosse. No names. Jeezo. Edited by Beaver on Sunday 17th August 09:27

It was complicated because it was an SOR car. But, I was buying from the OPC so stood firm. Conversely, out of all the OPCs I spoke to in my 4RS search they were the only one to penalise my PX GT4 on its tyre age..
