Cheers for the replies all, I won't use autodoc ever again...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A year ago I put on some 'Stark' branded bonnet struts from Autodoc.
They are less than 13 pounds each and are perfect in fit and function. No more sore back of head.
I need some for mine, as I've also had bonnet drop on my head, I had a look a few months ago and the original stabilus ones were only about £20-25 each if I remember correctly!
Download the parts catalogue for your car from Porsche :
link
In the parts catalogue, find the part number for the part you need. (in this case 996 511 551 01)
Goto Autodoc.co.uk (or something similar) and search for the part number - you can usually select a part from a variety of OEM manufacturers.
These things are also often available on Amazon, so find the part number of the OEM part - and search on Amazon & Google.
OEMassive...loads available all over the place...seem to have plenty of decent reviews although I'm not usually one to take much notice...we shall see but worth a punt for less than £25 a pair.
If bought a pair of eBay ones for £12 a couple of years ago, they still work fine but have a film of rust around them. A quick spray would have them looking like new.

I remember replacing the rear hatch gas struts on my 91 Corvette some years ago... made such a difference to the operation and such a simple, cheap thing that probably gets overlooked as unimportant.
Delivered today......... 2 sets as i clearly couldn't read they were in packs of 2 so have a spare pair available if anybody wants a set cheap....?
