I replaced the assembly after the turn signal canceling mechanism broke and now I don't have cruise control. It worked properly before I replaced the switch assembly, now I just get the cruise control "on" indicator when I push the switch but the cruise does not activate.

Suggestion
I would replace the small switches under the dash for the pedals ( I have a 6 speed so not sure on the tips if that is what you have ).

I have a 2002 996 with the four stalk control on the steering column. I replaced the assembly after the turn signal canceling mechanism broke and now I don't have cruise control. It worked properly before I replaced the switch assembly, now I just get the cruise control "on" indicator when I push the switch but the cruise does not activate. I thought I had read something about having to bring the car to the dealership to have the cruise control programmed for the new switch but that doesn't make sense, it's just a switch that was replaced with a Porsche part and everything else including the information computer works fine. Does anyone know anything about this?

My guess is u have a loose connector from the swap. The reprogram doesnt make sence if u replaced a 4 stalk with a 4 stalk.

When my cruise wasn't working I was able to recode it with a durametric. To be clear though I had no cruise light to indicate that is was on or off. So I don't believe programming or coding is your answer.

I just did The Whole stalk assembly swap out too. Similar to you and I think this is pure coincidence that my under dash clutch and brake switches were acting up. I would replace the small switches under the dash for the pedals ( I have a 6 speed so not sure on the tips if that is what you have ). You could also manipulate them some to see if they are getting stuck and need replacement. Since you are getting the light come on indicating cruise is active my money is on the switches. -scrh1

No programming needed for stalk switch replacement .. Like Scrh1 said, very good possibility your clutch or brake switch has been knocked ajar .....

The Durametric can turn off/on the cruise control feature. Mine was turned off, I had no indicator light, so the cruise control wouldn�t work.

Yep, Durametric or PIWIS can add or subtract cruise control function, but just installing a replacement stalk/switch doesn't turn On or OFF the function...
