Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

If not, I'm all in on the oil change recommendations to limit further wear.
Leading evidence: 'Replace recommendations' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace recommendations' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The only other way this could happen is if the smooth surface can discolor in straight lines and change the reflectivity(does this happen?).

I’ll give it another go next oil change with a narrower scope.

Suggestion
Use oil with high ZDDP content like DT40 or Liqui-Moly and change it often every 6 mo or 4-5K miles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Attempted to scope my cylinders and this was the best pic I could getthoughts on whether this is scoring or just typical wear marks? Im leaning towards the latter but Im obviously biased. Other opinions?
Im no expert but it looks like the earliest stages of scoring. My understand is that streaking is typically over a much narrower area and runs the entire length of the bore to the piston ring. Yours seems to be fairly wide and stops part way up, consistent with the travel of the piston skirt. If its scoring, its very mild so I wouldnt sweat it too much just yet.
What cylinder number is that? Have you scoped the rest yet? If so, how did they look?
To further clarify, I think the piston skirt might be rubbing against the cylinder wall but it may not be all the way through the skirt coating to the base metal yet.
Do a search around. Charles from LN have a whole series of pictures up of what is normal and what is of concern. My non-expert opinion is that, at least that one picture, is normal wear.
Use oil with high ZDDP content like DT40 or Liqui-Moly and change it often every 6 mo or 4-5K miles. This is one of the best defenses against bore scoring. Remember Oil is cheap, engines are not! I change the oil in all my Porsches every 6 mo even if they are not driven.
The problem I have with the picture is that the edge of the light reflection is not a straight line. If the surface was smooth, this line should be straight. So, this indicates a non smooth surface. The only other way this could happen is if the smooth surface can discolor in straight lines and change the reflectivity(does this happen?).
Does it have a ticking sound now? If not, I'm all in on the oil change recommendations to limit further wear. The only reason to get further diagnostic is if you need to know to prepare for the work needed 2-4 years from now.
If it has a tick now, you need to have an experienced hand look at it. Good luck!
Thanks for the thoughts guys. To answer a couple of the questions, the pic was from the bottom, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to scope them all due to difficulty in snaking the scope to 6. I’ll give it another go next oil change with a narrower scope. Been using DT40 since I got her 3yrs ago and she only has 34k miles.
