Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It’s 2002 67,000 miles 911 targa triptronic s electric glass roof and the rear window is electric which I’ve been told is rare ( is this true ) Full history Owner has had is 9 years 17k he wants I’ve tried to compare but the market seems all over the place , seen one at mathews auction only made 5k but had 180 k miles Just looking for a bit of advice if it’s to expensive or not ???? Tricky to give an opinion without more info as to the condition. If it was a perfect car in perfect condition the asking price seems reasonable. If damaged repaired then not. If you can provide pictures then you will get more response. And to get in first, make sure you get a Pre purchase inspection from an Indy.

POST 6Original post

I mean it’s rare as in there were only about 5000 made. Plenty of them about on Autotrader though. I have 3 in my saved ads at the moment. I’ve also owned a manual 996 Targa in the past myself. So that’s already 5 knocking about including the one you’re looking at. What’ll be rarer is one with a roof that doesn’t leak and/or creak!

POST 7Original post

Just to add - I absolutely adored the Targa. The best compromise between coupe and convertible IMHO. Having the rear window that opens makes access the space behind the seats much easier!

POST 8Original post

Maybe post some photos. As for rarity yes they are lower in the amount you see out on the road but I'm not sure if that makes it more desirable? A good coupe or cab are also great cars and just as much fun.

POST 9Original post

I would get a PPI done if you are genuinely interested. You could be spending £4k on suspension to get it feeling OK. You could be spending £12-15k on an engine rebuild if it is scored. Brakes can easily be £1500 on a 23 year old car, brake lines £2k, coolant pipes £1500 etc. etc. Hence why people are saying it is hard to say. If all the above has been done already over the last 5 years or so then £17k is OK I guess, tiptromic is not as desirable on the market as manual, targa not as desirable as a coupe. Prices are not what they were 12 months ago either. 67k miles is quite nice, but these cars like to be used and not only doing 200 miles or so a month. I'm not trying to put you off, but, be realistic, both yourself and the seller.
