The pins were changed part way through the 996.1 I think.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just fitted the hard top back on the car while its nice and dry and before Storm Amy hits us - the rear window on the drivers side has raised but it looks like its just a few mm shy of where it should be when raised. Is there any way of adjusting the window slightly or is there any chance the HT is clamped down too far? I locked into place with the standard tool and all seems to be OK - it might just be my imagination of course! Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

Your hardtop is not on right and causing that. Don't know why - more investigation required.

POST 3Original post

Serious question, was there a difference between 996.1 and 996.2 hardtop fittings...?

POST 4Original post

The pins were changed part way through the 996.1 I think. So some 996.1 have the old style, some have the new style, which were also on the 996.2......or something like that.

Loosened the bayonets and retightened again and all seems good - there seems to be an "extra" notch that perhaps overtightens the latch

good knowledge - i've had 3 Hard tops now and all had the bayonet style fixings on the right of the image

Sounds like you're not tightening it enough. You turn it until it rides over it's greatest point and then it backs off and clicks in to place. If you've not turned it far enough it will have pulled it down too much. Also it won't be locked in position.
