Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, Pending a mechanic's once-over, I'm the owner of a '99 Carrera with ~50K miles on the clock. He pointed me here - good info on the main seal problem with early '99s, and that's something he'll be checking. Anything else I should look for or ask him about? The test drive was through some nice, curvy roads. That plus a decent price + 1yr warranty sold me. Thanks! Kevin

POST 2Original post

Congratulations! The RMS issue is generic to the M96 series of motors. Look on Rennlist.com. It has a much more active 996 forum than PP.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow! I got my Carrera on Friday and went for a drive up and back along the Hudson River (around Bear Mtn for the NYers here). The car performs better than I could have imagined. I've never experienced handling like that before. I'm hooked.

POST 4Original post

It is customary to post pictures of your new ride. ...if you don't, a local Pelican will have to hunt you down like a bad dog!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will. I would have yesterday but it was dark by the time I got home! I had so much fun that when I was driving my main car (auto) to work, my left leg kept going for the clutch that wasn't there.

POST 6Original post

Welcome Kevin, I'm sure you are loving your new wheels. I'm in New City....where did you find your car? I'm in the market for a 996 as well. Can you pm me and let me know what you paid? It will help me gauge what the market is doing. Thanks and welcome again,

POST 7Original post

Hi Kevin, Thanks for your information. Who did your PPI? Rick Deman? Thanks,

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
