Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can someone please tell me the purpose of the "box" attached to the intake hose on my boxster right before the throttle body is for. Is it necessary?

POST 2Original post

The box is designed to improve the volumetric efficiency of the intake and help with sound attenuation. The size and position is intended to provide optimum resonance of the pressure waves created by the stroke of the pistons. Pressure waves (air vibrations at the 'speed of sound') are generated and channeled out the intake - outbound pressure. The box absorbs much of the force of the wave creating a partial vacuum at the neck of the box, cycling an inbound pressure wave through the intake. Because of the fixed length from the valves to the box and the fixed size of the box, it has to be engineered to provide peak performance at a particular rpm. Above and below that point it will provide less efficiency. You don't need it, but Porsche didn't put it there just because they like to add on extra plastic thingies. It helps the engine run better. That's my understanding, but my degree is in Geography, so I could be confused about this sort of wavy-engineering-and-physics stuff. POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the "Geographic" explanation. I think it stays.

POST 4Original post

Its your PPWHR system, basically a pressure wave harmonic reducer. :+)

As it should. You wouldn't want to disturb the "feng shui". ただ言う TO
