Hallo everybody, in my 996 C4 (2001), the passenger seat is stuck all the way back , i got a new seat rail (Just in case i needed to cut it somehow), but i am unable to access the screws in the back of the seat to replace it. PS. it moves just a littel bit when i press the butten, but not enough to reach the screws in the back. Any one with a helpful idea? greeting from Germany Moh.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

U will most likely need to make a custim tool and a lot of patients. Pull the drivers seat so u have room to reach arojnd the back and figure out how to make a low profuie socket or wrench. I assume if u try to "help" the seat move foward it still doesnt go? Maybe there is simething jaming the track,
This sounds silly, but have you physically pushed the seat forward while pushing the button? When I bought my 2002 cabriolet from the previous owner I believed the passenger seat didn't work. The button would move it very slowly to the rear only a little then stop. I kept trying it back and forth with a little pressure applied to the seat in the direction I was trying to move and eventually it freed up. It went from a seat that wouldn't move at all to a seat that moves full range with a 200 lb person sitting in it and I didn't disassemble or grease anything.
My friend's 99 C2 had the same problem with the passenger seat. It would not move forward. We ended up taking the seat power switch panel apart and applied leads from a battery directly to the contact points behind the switch panel. It took a couple of tries to figure out which contacts moved the seat forward, but we were successful.
