Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone only had a rear GT3 rear spoiler put on their 996. Im tempted to put the rear spoiler on first followed by side skirts then maybe the front bumper... but as funds allow ofcourse. Are there any pics of a GT3 rear spoiler only on a 996. Im concerned that it could look incomplete?

POST 2Original post

It's generally not a good idea to add a rear spoiler without a corresponding front spolier as they're usually developed as a package to get the aerodynamics right. If you really want to do it piece by piece I'd recommend a progression of front bumper, rear spoiler then maybe side skirts. You can usually find them cheaper as a package though. Here in the US you can find both the 1st and 2nd generation AeroKit packages for under $4K (the 1st gen one is usually several hundred $$ cheaper). Note that if you've got an 01 or earlier 996 installing the 2nd gen AeroKit front bumper also requires changing the headlights (I don't _think_ the fenders/wings are different)

POST 3Original post

are you talking about the new or the old gt3 spoiler... i.e. the one shaped like a C or the one shaped like an n. I'm in the process of getting mine painted and installed and mine is the one shaped like a C. The guy I bought it from also has the fronts and side and is selling them for real cheap. they are new in the box. I think he wants like 1k for both the sides and the front. email me if you're interested. i'll give you his contact info. these are the older style ones though... they will not fit on your car if your car is 2002 or newer. or is it 2001. I forget. anyways, to see the difference of the kits search for aero kit on this site. and yes, without the sides it definitely looks incomplete. as for the comment above mine, i'm not going to try to argue about the whole aerodynamic aspect of it but owned and driven a lot of sports cars and i don't really think the spoiler without the front will make a big difference in handling UNLESS you're on the track, and even then it's minimal to an extent. like I said, I don't want to provoke any feedback so this is strictly my opinion by my butt aerodynometer.

POST 4Original post

I have the complete kit and the stock retractable. At speeds over 100mph your car might be light in the front.

POST 5Original post

Nick, two things: I think it will look odd and I also think it could be dangerous. PUK will not sell you the rear spoiler on its own. They sell them in front and back pairs for a good reason. Safety. Also, if you hold on, you can bargain a better price on the paint job when you get it all done at once. Comon Nick, you and I both know it won't take you more than a few months to get the cash for the full monty Hang in there mate...... Cheers Berny

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LOL. yes I suppose it wouldnt take too long to get it all done at once.

[IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] My car seems to handle great at high speeds with this kit... Plus engine and suspension mods... It did take a lot of work to get all these parts to look perfect. But I really like the results... I would say go for it!

POST 11Original post

To me the GT3 wing is the best looking one but like someone else said, you'd be better off getting the aero package (money wise & handling) jmo.

My wife did the GT3/Aerokit on her 996 and I think it looks great. Keep in mind that you can't just buy a GT3 rear decklid/spoiler and mount it on your car, it won't work as the air intake is on the other side. You would need to get the actual "aero rear spoiler" kit. Also as others mentioned, Porsche designed the entire package (bumper/spoiler/side skirts) to work together from an aerodynamics perspective and running the bumper without the rear spoiler or the rear spoiler without the front bumper could be dangerous at high speed.

Very nice looking!

POST 14Original post

I have to say that 997 GT3 wing looks very good on your 996. I like the Taco wing for the 996, but not bad for changing it up.
