Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I do find it helpful to lower the windows first before disconnecting the battery.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry this seems a stupid question.. If removing the battery the 101 Projects book just states to disconnect and remove. But I am sure I read on here that it needs the key in the Ign switch - something to do with the alarm.. Can anyone enlighten me to the correct battery out and back in process PS - 1998 C2 Cab Thanks O-Sr

POST 2Original post

Simple - disconnect and remove. No need for key in the ignition. However, depending on the car's radio you may need to re-enter the radio code. I've done this several times. I do find it helpful to lower the windows first before disconnecting the battery. That gives you access to the interior just in case something goes wrong.

So the book is correct Thanks

POST 4Original post

Make sure you move the battery box hold down so can install the largest battery possible.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The sticky s above suggest that disconnection of the battery will clear any codes and forces engine to recalibrate air/gas mixture Is this a good thing or a bad thing? OS_R

Just make sure you have the radio security code and you are good to go. A/f will be relearned and codes will be re-tripped (if there was any) afterwards. No worries.
