I do like to use Waze, but I live in a very rural area, and Waze only works when others alert you to any threats.

This is my 997, but the setup in the Cayman is identical. The Uniden R8 has paid for itself several times over. I do like to use Waze, but I live in a very rural area, and Waze only works when others alert you to any threats. My dashcam is a Viofo A119 Mini 2, and the mic is for my Kenwood stereo. Everything tucks up nicely behind and above the mirror, which I like. I know some people run a Blend mount, but to me, they hang too low.

Question: are you running the Viofo in your Cayman with a pigtail connected to the rain sensor, a cable down to the 12V port on the passenger foot well, or some other method? I have the A119 Mini 2 half-installed in my BGTS but not happy with my cabling work so haven't mounted it yet.

In both cars, the dash cams are ran to the fuse box. In my 997, the detectors taps from the dome light, but in the Cayman , that also goes down to the fuse block.

Ah, yeah, I forgot to mention the most popular method. I definitely don't mind tinkering with wiring and electronics, or popping off trim pieces, but I just got this 718 and really don't want to have an expensive oops moment. Just leery of making a costly mistake so being extra-cautious with every change and likely over-thinking.

You’re basically dealing with clean dashcam wiring on a 718 where the main concern is avoiding trim damage and messy power taps; running it to the fuse box like theblooms did is the safest long-term setup, and from my own installs it’s always better than tapping random interior circuits, plus his tucked-behind-mirror layout is one of the cleanest approaches. Overall, a solid discussion and being cautious with a new car is the right mindset, and the same idea applies to UTV side mirrors . Keep mounts high, wiring secured, and avoid anything that could obstruct view or get snagged.
