Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the same stuff to cover the hex head at the bottom of the shifter I run.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I recently installed the Numeric shifter and it seemed like a shame to cover up that piece of machined loveliness I pulled the boot and removed the staples then sanded and filled the plastic part. It is a good shape and easy to prep. I found a very nice color match in the shop and was super pleased with the finish. Plasticote Industrial Enamel 2382n aluminum. the next step was to cover the ugly parts in the shifter cavity. I used the loop side of some wide Velcro I had in the shop. One piece on each side and a piece across the front. I used the same stuff to cover the hex head at the bottom of the shifter I run. I'll probably machine an aluminum cover for the very bottom of the shifter. here are some pics.

POST 2Original post

Cool! I like it - that shifter is a beautiful piece of work.

POST 3Original post

Very cool, just remember small stuff could fall in there, just something to keep in mind.

POST 4Original post

It really is a shame to cover it up! Yeah the center console is not the place to put small items. I keep a leather bound notebook there for car notes and thats it. I should keep a long pair of tweezers handy to dig stuff out.... I'm really liking the look.

POST 5Original post

It’s a super cool mod, I’m assuming you are the only driver so you will take care not to have anything fall into there. I was merely pointing out that having that usually be closed most of us would not be thinking about something bouncing down in there..

POST 6Original post

That would be my fear, also. So any time you need spare change, you know where to look. Or find a cell phone or pair of sunglasses. LOL

POST 7Original post

You may find dust accumulating on the grease of the pivots. The boot is a dust shield.

POST 8Original post

I'm the only driver. The bearings are sealed. There is no exposed grease. It's gonna be ok....I promise.
