Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I’ve changed my side markers to blink, but I’m on the fence with this as I don’t like them darkened at night since when illuminated it makes the car easier to see in a crossing situation at intersections.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2011 987.2 Boxter Base with 47, 800 miles on it. I'm looking for a precise description of how to use all the functions of the on-board computer with the stalk. The Porsche user manual leaves a ton of questions unanswered. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!!

POST 2Original post

Hey @MoJo4729 , I agree that the user manual for the on-board computer can leave a lot of questions. Is there a specific function on the stalk that's giving you the most trouble? Sharing which one is stumping you might help someone here walk you through the steps.

POST 3Original post

Ironic how with the price we pay for our beloved P-cars, that that is the best they can offer, “It is not possible to describe all details of the on-board computer functions in this Owner’s Manual”. Really? And why is that? One would think it IS possible to do so, if Porsche wished to in the first place. It is not rocket science, and could be accomplished with minimal effort. Having said that, the options are a finite number and with some spare time and patience an owner could cycle through every UP, DOWN, PUSH, PULL of the stalk and gain an understanding of the features buried within. If someone was interested and bored enough, they could even produce a flow chart of where and which each movement of the stalk brings up a menu or sub-menu and how to cycle through the various options presented with each stalk ‘click’. I have sat in the driver’s seat on numerous occasions and dabbled with the options available, but unfortunately if you don’t do this often enough it is easy to forget how to get what you are looking for without starting all over and doing the UP/DOWN/PUSH/PULL Two-Step Tango. Now where did I leave my dancing shoes?

POST 4Original post

It is kinda crazy. I had the problem with DRL activated when I bought my Porsche . Took it to the dealer they couldn't figure it out even with PIWIS ... I bought a cheap Foxwell unit off ebay and was able to turn them off. Ironically also in my case the owners manual said it could be done by the stalk. Only to find out it's not all models. Reduculousness indeed.

POST 6Original post

Is the attached pic of your dashboard? If so, what year and trim level is your car? Mine is an ‘08 base, but I don’t recall ever seeing that option in any of the pull-up menus. I did also just purchase a Foxwell unit so I will delve into that when I have some free time to experiment.

POST 7Original post

08 Base as well, that pic is from the internet to show it exists. Just not on all models. 🤷🏻‍♂️

POST 8Original post

I got the NT710 , Porsche software loaded. I might purchase the software for my LR Defender, they have add’l software for $60 for that. I coded mine to activate drive-away locking, which is useful because I always forget to lock it manually since our other cars all do already. I’ve changed my side markers to blink, but I’m on the fence with this as I don’t like them darkened at night since when illuminated it makes the car easier to see in a crossing situation at intersections. One user got them to stay lit, but blink. I haven’t been able to recreate that. Also trying to get Comfort Open/Close to work, but although it says activated, the fob does not open and close the windows when locking and unlocking. I’ll keep at it.

POST 9Original post

That feature was left off all NA models -I have read. For my Range Rover Sport I purchased a GAP IID tool. Now that thing works wonders. Wish they had something that capable for Porsche without having to load up a super computer. Literally I'am coding the Rover from my iphone , and we are talking like ride height, lighting, suspension smoothness, what the fob buttons do, so many modes available in a Range Rover, but kinda like the simplicity of Porsche are very basic on the adaptable modes.
