An old friend who formerly did
BMW
upgrade parts, saw the light a number of years ago and moved to
Porsche
. He just happens to have a 987, and being him, he decided "lets upgrade the brakes"... so using his engineering skills and knowledge, and contacts with vendors leftover from his
BMW
days (UUCGarage for those interested..) he came up with a kit to install larger rotors on a stock 987 using the stock calipers. As part of the kit, he also had made stainless covered brake lines since the system has to be opened up anyway, and the newest original stock brake line in use would be 14 years old now..
So, I suggested he contact our owners (Fora) about becoming a sponsor here - and he has, but hasn't heard back from them. He is doing an introductory special just for Planet-9 members, I promised to tell our members about it, so here it is:
The brake lines are included at no charge for Planet-9 members until 3/9/2026.
Note that I don't benefit in any way by posting this, except trying to encourage a guy who I know would make a valuable contribution to the 987 community. He was rather famous for his BMW shifters, and knowing him, he won't be able to leave well enough alone on his 987..
And maybe someday Fora will get back to him. Meanwhile - have at it!
Is there a code?
Website doesn’t work well. Maybe because I’m in Australia. (Shows as A$0 in cart, $3461 before adding…)
Whats the cost in US$ (trying to figure out if it’s showing $US, from Australia)
The website converts currency automatically based on your location, so that price you are seeing is in Australian dollars.
The $US price for the 4-wheel kit is $1989… Shopify handles the currency conversion, so the $3461 you are seeing Australian dollars.
Discount for the brake lines is automatic; add the lines and then add the style of rotors you want and the brake lines will be $0 in your cart.

Trying to wrap my head around this upgrade. Larger rotors, but stock calipers. Meaning the pads will be the same as stock. So does this equate to better braking? The contact area of the pads will not change, but by extension, I’m guessing the larger surface area, sheer volume and mass of the rotors will aid in heat dissipation, resulting in improved braking. Is that the theory behind this costly endeavor?
You pretty much got it, but I’ll quote from our website as that sums up the detailed benefits succinctly:
At the core is a true race-style floating rotor design using H-style bobbin hardware to replace the simple 1-piece original rotors. This architecture allows the rotor ring to expand independently of the aluminum hat as temperatures rise, isolating thermal stress and preventing distortion. The result is a braking surface that remains flat and stable under repeated hard use, maintaining consistent pad contact and predictable pedal feel.
Floating hardware also allows the rotor to self-center within the caliper as loads change, reducing lateral runout and minimizing pad knockback during aggressive driving. Pedal height is preserved and modulation improves because braking force is no longer compromised by heat-induced rotor movement.
Even with the larger diameter, the total assembly weight is comparable to stock, retaining suspension response while significantly increasing thermal capacity. By relocating mass away from the hub via the aluminum hat, the important actual rotor ring mass is increased which improves heat absorption and dissipation. In addition to greater thermal mass and faster heat shedding, the system delivers stronger initial bite and consistent stopping distances, even as temperatures climb.
On the road or track, this system represents a fundamental improvement in how the
Cayman
or
Boxster
braking system manages heat, load, and stability, delivering repeatable braking performance beyond factory component limits.
