The brakes feel good to me although the pedal is a little long but I'm having the brake fluid changed next week.

Suggestion
You adjust first on each rear disc through one of the wheel bolt holes, then once the adjustment there is correct, you then adjust the cable under the central glovebox.

It is due a few things actually , transmission oil change, power steering fluid change and new plugs as well as the brake fluid.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
After phoning a few Specialists and asking about some items I had a differing opinion about Brembo vs OEM parts. My car had new Brembo discs/pads all round in 2022 with 3K done in 3 years.
One specialist recommended Brembo the another said they would only use OEM and didn't think much of Brembo.... I thought they were a market leader and I had them fitted to my Type R Golf which felt great.
I won't be changing them. The same Specialist picked holes in everything to be honest.......
I also need another notch on the handbrake, I am on the last notch and it holds but my drive is quite steep. I have chocked the car to stop any problems.
Is the handbrake adjustment easy? A specialist detailed the shoe replacement is a long winded job and although the pads are cheap the whole kit is not.
I've been fitting Brembo discs on all my cars for the last 5 years or more, either with Brembo pads or EBC Yellow stuff - even my lowly Leon 1.4 estate has Brembo/EBC combo!
Brembo often have multiple disc options available - I like them coated (so the bits not in contact with the pads don't rust) and usually grooved, albeit on my C4 they're drilled.
Yellow stuff have good bite from cold all the way up to track day temps. Down sides are dust and occasionally squeaky albeit appears to settle down with mileage.
With regards to the handbrake, mine seems poor but always manages to pass the MOT. Back in my old Chassis engineering days the brake engineers always hated 'drum-in-hat' handbrakes, as they were difficult to bed in properly in a production environment and were a frequent customer complaint. Therefore my thoughts have been if it ain't broken don't try to fix it!
Not sure others experience with them.
Leaving your car in gear will stop it rolling away.
Porsche OE discs are from Sebro not Brembo. Sebro aren't available as an aftermarket product, so genuine discs are only from Porsche. The calipers are Brembo.
Handbrake adjustment has 2 options, internally at the lever end or via the inspection holes in the hub, see attached
Honestly, I got Brembo discs because they were drilled handed, ie. left and right side rotation is correct. Some alternatives aren't and look strange on the front. The rears are not handed.
So far no issue with any Brembo stuff. I think the last set of pads I put in were actually Textar, just in a Brembo box.
I bought a set of front Brembo discs for my Turbo and after about 300miles they warped giving heavy vibration when braking hard. Sent them back and got a refund.
Sounds like you were driving your car very hard! I am a pretty sedate driver, you have to be now with all the speed cameras, Vans etc. I do give it some stick when I am satisfied it is safe.
Handbrake doesn't have 2 options, it has 2 adjustment areas, both of which should be set correctly. You adjust first on each rear disc through one of the wheel bolt holes, then once the adjustment there is correct, you then adjust the cable under the central glovebox. Not hard and can be done in an hour or so without having to remove the discs or calipers.
I've got a set of 4 pagid discs here brand new never fitted for 996 c2 / 986 3.2s. Front drill holes are sided. Different part numbers boxed individually. The rears come in 1 box for the pair. I also bought a set of EBC yellows too never fitted. Maybe I should put up a for sale ad but assumed I would use them ... eventually. They've been sat here for over 3 years now and counting.
The brakes feel good to me although the pedal is a little long but I'm having the brake fluid changed next week. The dealer said the car had a service, this amounted to an oil change and a new water pump. It is due a few things actually , transmission oil change, power steering fluid change and new plugs as well as the brake fluid.
I’m new to the car and would like to get things right from the get go.
When was the last brake fluid change? Bleed nipples are notorious for seizing if left too long without being moved.
Hope they’re ok, but prepare for some unexpected expense if not.
Edit: just read 2022 new brakes, you should be ok assuming the fluid was changed then.
