Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys. So a few months back whilst exploring the arches of my 996 I discovered a previous owner had fitted some sort of after market HID Balast in the headlights. It’s a right mess and I want to put the wiring back to standard and then probably fit some LED replacements. You can see how messy it is in these photos I’m just looking for some help/advice on what should be there and what shouldn’t. The original wiring harness upto the blue/orange plug is there, would a second hand wiring loom sort this and if so some help with a part number would be appreciated. Cheers

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Am I right in thinking there should just be one plug from the head light into this socket or is it more complicated than that??

POST 5Original post

Yep, just that plug in the red circle and the socket on the rear of the headlight that looks like this:

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again @Alex so should that plug be loose and plugs into the rear of the headlight as it appears to be fastened to a plastic stay of some type on mine on each side

POST 7Original post

It's locked in position so that it automatically connects when you push the light unit in.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I’ve decided to fit a new HiD upgrade from D911, at least I’ll know it’s done properly and I can make a tidy job of it, the kit that’s fitted is pretty poor and will be a fair age. So whilst I wait for the new kit to arrive I got the @Interference Fit bug and gave the light trays and inner wings a good clean

POST 10Original post

That's a bug you really don't want! Nice job.
