Hi alli have a 98 996 Carrera. I recently got an oil change ata “mechanics “. On the drive home the car performed like a bag of spanners. I took it out for a run when my wife noted that the car was very lumpy. I looked in the engine bay and seen the maf had not been reinstalled and the intake pipe to the air box had worked loose. I fixed both things but the car seems to want to slip the clutch between 2 and 3. It’s a tiptronic and has never done this before. It had the box reconditioned to the tune of 2500 a year ago before I bought it. Why is it doing this? Some changes are very lumpy. This has never happened before. I also think he overfilled it with oil. The air box was definately out of the car as I had the resonator delete done at the same time. Any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks Neil

Can we assume that the maf is connected properly. Have you checked all the clips are tight? What's the oil reading on the dipstick?

yep mafconnected properly. The lumpiness on startup and tick over has went away. I’m left with engine freely revving whilst changing up from 2 to 3. It’s may be atf or (hopefully not) the torque converter. Car performs faultlessly in manual mode. Dipstick reading too much oil. I think the maf is ok now, just the gearbox problem. The mechanic was off today so I’ll speak tohim tomorrow and update the thread accordingly. Thanks again
