Works bell supposedly makes a hub where you can run the clock spring with their hub and it bypasses the airbag light with resistors and be able to wire the horn.

Hey Guys, Not sure if this has been answered. Been trying to figure out serching here all morning, but have yet to find my answer. I'm looking to change my 3 spoke wheel for a smaller wheel and aftermarket hub. My question is Do i need to remove the clockspring to run the Momo Hub? If i do, does anyone have a DIY on how to remove it. Thanks in advance! Sorry for the noob question!

Removing the clock spring is easy. You'll have an airbag light on, the horn won't work. I retrofitted a 3 spoke steering wheel to my 968, wrote a detailed procedure. You'll probably find your answer in it....it's pretty much the same for a 996. https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...the-968-a.html

Thanks! Yeah i figured it out removing the clockspring. Pretty simple, but then realized without. No horn and a light! I guess using the momo hub is somewhat of a pain due to the two red and orange wires the clockspring goes into. I could rewire and splice some stuff but it's almost not worth it at that time! Works bell supposedly makes a hub where you can run the clock spring with their hub and it bypasses the airbag light with resistors and be able to wire the horn. So i'm looking to see if i can source one of those.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
