Anybody tried to order the Interior Design Package in Exterior Color (805)?? I'm sure it won't be available but I'm curious since they had it on the Cobalt car at the show.
not available in the US when I tried a few weeks ago.
Update........
Emailed my dealer around Tuesday of this week.......he said this option (805) WAS available......or at least the configurator didn't kick it out. I will be double checking on this......and if anyone else has any more information please post......
I think we all got excited after seeingthe Cobalt Blue Cayman at the Frankfurt show. Here is what I think......
I believe the Cobalt Blue example has more than just the Interior Design Package in Exterior Color. According to the order guide this option has the strut tower, speaker cover, baggage retaining clip (?), and storage box lids painted exterior color, howeverthis car also appears to have the following options
CDM Trim Strip Painted Exterior Color (this is the 5 part painted strip on the dash)
CDJ Gear Leaver Trim Exterior Color (painted band around gear shift)
I don'tthink 805 will come with the two above.......and I don't know if these are available either......they might be as they are not 'X' options. If you want your Cayman to look like the Cobalt Blue car......I think it will need all three options........805, CDM, & CDJ for a total price of.......$2040. Just my opinion,
could be wrong of course, but when I first saw this car I said to myself........that's a lot of painted bits for Porsche to offer for just $1190.
And I don'tknow if the seat belt exit towers are included in this or not......they might be separate also, although I don't see them in the order guide explicit.
Even though the Cobalt car doesn't list CDM & CDJ as options.......it doesn't list the body painted bottom front spoiler as beingan option either........and since it does appear to be nothing more than a typed up list of options......I wouldn't take it as being totally correct.
how much is option 805 by itself?
$1190.
The order guide has all three of them right in line.......805, CDJ, CDM. I would think that CDJ and CDM would show a 'conflicts with' statement concerning805 if indeed CDJ and CDM were include in 805.
If you go to the configurator on the GB site and select the interior design, click the eyeball for information. It includes the trim strip, gear lever strip, and the rear cargo area, just like the Cobalt show car. I think the US order guide has it wrong, but since my dealer said it was not available on his computer it's probably moot. I'm seriously considering postponing my order.
Could be as you say Dave.......I'll probably be checking on it all again this week. I'll post any news.
Many thanks, I'd appreciate any news you can come up with.
Final update......went to the dealer today and sat down with my sales rep.....
Option 805 is not available after all.......sorry if I got anyones hopes up.
I did however manage to change my order to include options....
CDP, Instrument surround painted exterior color. (Inside of instrument hood)
CDM, Trim strip painted exterior color. (5 part strip between upper and lower dash)
CDJ, Gear lever trim in exterior color.(Strip betweenconsole and shifter)
So I spent some more money, but I think these few pieceswill really set the interior aparta bit.
I'm so ashamed......should have never set foot back in the dealer.Kind of like going back into thecasino after coming out ahead.

It is too easy to check the boxes isn't it. We feel your pain. How much more did you spend anyway? Sounds like your Cayman will be special.
It was a little over $1k more. I'm now having my wife obtain a restraining order for me........'Must keep at least 500 feet away from the dealer at all times......yada, yada, yada........'
If it makes you feel better I'm adding those to my options list as well. Can you send a copy of that restraining order/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/teeth_smile.gif
