These hoses started bursting catastrophically a good few years ago now so I replaced both of mine about 8 years ago.

I've been thinking for a while now that I should remove the engine and replace all the hoses and o rings on top of the engine as they are 20 years old and live in a very hot environment!

I keep an eye on the American forums as for some reason they seem to have the problems first which later go on to affect UK cars. These hoses started bursting catastrophically a good few years ago now so I replaced both of mine about 8 years ago. I've been thinking for a while now that I should remove the engine and replace all the hoses and o rings on top of the engine as they are 20 years old and live in a very hot environment! Also pin or weld the aluminium glued in fittings too as I'm well aware one of those could pop out at any time. Ps you were lucky it only had a small split, they normally split from one end to the other!
