I was set on getting another manual but I have foot issues which makes a PDK the sensible choice.

I figure it’s a better way of getting to know the car than what a quick test drive might tell you.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Didn’t even know this service was available until I stumbled across it on the Porsche GB website last night.
Picked up a Boxster Style Edition for a 24hr ‘test drive’ this afternoon. Not cheap, but I’ve got the week off and one too many beers later and it was booked
. In my defence I am looking to get back into a Boxster in the not too distant future and wondered how a 718 would feel compared to the 987 I had.
The sales guy said the service only launched this week and I was only the second customer.
Car has 14 miles on the clock!
I figure it’s a better way of getting to know the car than what a quick test drive might tell you. But again, it’s not cheap!
I stumbled across this last night as well. I’m ok with the daily cost (although not cheap) but the insurance excess at £3k to £5k depending upon model is quite a risk.

Per day
475 for a 911
250 for a Boxster
(Some others available).
Seems okay for a weekend hire.
I'm never sure why posters don't share the pertinent information

And £500 for a Taycan. Given how many of these they have sitting around I'm surprised it's not cheaper

yep saw the 5k excess and thought nope
Then just insure the risk - £10 a day max.

as an example, there are many others. Routinely do this on holiday as the excess risk policies from car hire companies are extortionate by comparison. Never had to claim, so not sure how fast they pay out...

Seems pretty reasonable to me, not sure how one would expect renting brand new sports cars to total randoms to be much cheaper than that!

Before going that route, best to check the fine print. Usually they don’t cover expensive sports cars. That policy doesn’t, for instance. My normal travel insurance doesn’t either.
Avis Prestige looks cheaper to me (992 C2S) and you can buy excess reduction from them also. Worth a look for comparison. They have the Cayman GTS also.

£360 for the day, but limited to 100 miles compared to 250 from Porsche. There are also more restrictive age limits with Avis.

Yes, the small print is important. I take an annual policy to cover holiday car hire. The limit is £5k excess but max vehicle value is £70k. The Boxster May just slip under this.

Good spot both. Terms are:
"The policy does not cover rental of any of the following vehicles: vehicles over 10 years, vehicles valued at more than £70,000 (or equivalent in local currency), motor homes, campervans, trailers or caravans, vans, commercial vehicles or trucks, two or three wheeled vehicles, off-road vehicles, prestige or exotic vehicles, recreational vehicles, passenger vans, or other vehicles with more than 7 seats, or over 3.5 tonnes, or any vehicle hired from Green Motion International trading as Green Motion Car Rental."
I wonder what Green Motion has done to deserve their specific call-out... :-)

So how was the car? Is what you expected
Well, a mixed bag really. I knew it would feel like a Boxster, which it does. It’s got that same DNA as the 987 I owned seven years ago, so that wasn’t a surprise. Everything looked and ‘felt’ so familiar inside despite the difference in years. Guess that’s the Porsche evolution, not revolution, thing at work.
Very quick, and brilliant through the corners, but after the first day I was still left feeling a bit underwhelmed. That engine sound just isn’t as good as the flat six, more like an Impreza. And I wasn’t convinced by the PDK. More drive time yesterday left me realising I didn’t notice the engine sound as much, and I was getting used to the PDK more. I was set on getting another manual but I have foot issues which makes a PDK the sensible choice.
Overall, a very polished package, but maybe a bit too polished? Think I’ll be looking at the 981…
Having had a go in all of them 986 Boxster and 987 Boxster peak Boxsters. They’re far too cheap for such an amazing steer. Looks wise though the 981 and 718 Spyder hard to walk past without staring back for a quick second glance. TBF Porsche nailed styling with all the Spyders versions inc 987. Porsche Rental tells me Porsche Retail Group have too much stock.

Thanks. It had to be that...
This company is proving exceptionally difficult to organise group bookings in Germany. I've found out that each location has a different subcontractor and consequently they can't move cars around to accommodate larger bookings, nor do they have any visibility of what additional stock will be arriving in the future. I incorrectly assumed that since this has been rubber stamped with the Porsche name they would be a lot more organised, especially in Germany!
Looks like this service has bitten the dust. That didn’t last long, which is a shame. Guess the excess, and only being available at two Porsche centres, put a lot of people off.
