Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I’m in the process of fitting a new Carrera badge, it’s Matt black as it should be on C2, wasn’t keen on the gold one fitted and I think it was badly positioned so didn’t want to take measurements from it. How high should it be positioned from engine cover bottom edge? Currently at 61mm, what do we think?

POST 2Original post

Here are the placement specs: For a MY99 C2 use: A and B = 129.6 mm and C = 35 +-1 mm Attached Images

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks @moo75x will use that as a reference cheers

POST 4Original post

i got it from here - https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/273652-badge-placement.html it seems theres no actual "right" answer as some may be on teh high position and others on a low position..............

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again. There’s a comment on there suggests 50mm from lid edge is right height, but like you’ve said it seems to be a variation over the years. I’m probably over thinking it!

POST 6Original post

I believe they changed the position from high to low at some point during the 996 run. Early car.... Later car... Mine is Jan 2001 and is in the low position.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah mines a 2000 and like yours @Interference Fit an aero kit car, definitely looks better lower imo

Yes, the kit changes the goal posts somewhat.

POST 9Original post

Gen 1 C2/4 is in the upper position, unless a wing was fitted from factory, in which case the badge would be fitted in the lower position. Gen 2 C2/4, Turbo, the badge is fitted in the lower postion. C4S badge in the upper position (obviously). GT3 badge in lower position. Spacing guides are available from Porsche (Google). Mind you, if you’re sticking non-standard badges on then factory badge spacing becomes irrelevant, because the wrong badge can’t be in the right position

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Decided to stick with it where I had it after all that, no right or wrong as long as it’s central and level

POST 11Original post

I'm in the process of replacing my Carrera 4 badges on my 996.2. It was always placed far too low. Does anyone know where i can find measurements of where this should be placed? Reading this thread, it should be in the lower position, but i need measurements if anyone has them or fancies measuring for me?

POST 12Original post

I measured my original before I removed it, hope this helps.....

POST 13Original post

Thank you @Interference Fit !! I was thinking of leaving it without badge, but this area looks bare. Would it be sacrilege to just put on the Carrera badge without the 4

Put on whatever you want, your car. I replaced mine with a simple 911 badge.

POST 15Original post

I have a Singer style "PORSCHE" decal that i'm in 2 minds whether to fit to the back - but if i do that, i'd need to remove the original Carerra 4 badge as it would be too much
