Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've checked with the door closed, and the car locked.
Leading evidence: 'Check with the door closed, and the car locked' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check seat plug' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I ended up running a cable from the fuse board in the drivers footwell which was switched live, it was the one that is supposed to run the heated seats.

I've found an ACC female connector in the seat harness in the car, but it corresponds to an empty position when checking the seat plug.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm in the process of fitting heated seat pads to my basic seats (comfort seats, electric fore/aft and up/down, no memory). Annoyingly, I can't figure out the wiring. The "live" from the seat harness is permanently ON. I've checked with the door closed, and the car locked. Even waited a couple of minutes after locking it in case there's a curtesy time. Passenger side is the same, I can move the seat fore/aft without the key in the ignition and with the car locked.
I've found an ACC female connector in the seat harness in the car, but it corresponds to an empty position when checking the seat plug.
Is it meant to be this way or is there something wrong?
Wiring the seat heater to permanent live is not really a good option, even if I were to constantly check I've turned it off I'm pretty sure eventually my passenger princess would kill the battery
.
See picture of what voltages look like (picture is of the seat plug but imagine it's the car harness)
Update, I've found this wiring diagram which shows that the white connector D is the buckle pin (so that's why the yellow-circled pin is a control voltage, the car is checking if the belt is buckled) so nothing particularly useful.
If no one has any better ideas I think I'll uncrimp the blue-circled wire from the female harness connector which is an ACC voltage and connect that to the heater pad positive using a lever nut wire connector (so it can be easily removed if the seat needs to be taken out in the future).
Wattage/Amperage for these pads is not that high (my multimeter couldn't measure it
and I don't have a clamp meter but rated at 50W/seat) so I hope it doesn't melt the plastic connector.
hello, I did this. I wired off the permanent live and left it on and wrecked the battery!!
I ended up running a cable from the fuse board in the drivers footwell which was switched live, it was the one that is supposed to run the heated seats. in mine the wiring was there and I had to pin the other side of the fuse out to the consumer.
with the seats out this is fairly easy.
Thanks, that is the best way to do it. I ended up splicing into the ACC pin in my picture above from the seat harness, but frustratingly it cannot carry enough current to actually heat the seats! I've ordered a fuse piggyback and I'll do like you did. A bit of a faff taking out the side sill to properly route the cables etc.
It's fuse A6 for heated seats, and all cars have a ACC line there (as it's a split terminal between A5 and A6). Alternatively one can tap into E8 (phone fuse).
