Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've previously used a meguars kit on my Golf that came with a drill bit buffer, but they went back to yellow v quickly.

To be fair, I also just put it back on with silicon instead of replacing, I'll never use it anyway.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 996 Litronics are over 20 years old - and had yellowed quite badly. car lives outside, and I guess the UV had worked its magic. The photos below don't quite portray how bad they were. Car is dusty, but you can see there is a weird crazing over the lenses, and they were extremely yellow.
For the sake of £25, I gave the Sylvania restoration kit a try.
The kit instructions claim that it comes with all the grades of paper required - but mine came with none! I used a 400, followed by 1000, then 2000 then 3000. All wet sanded.
The lenses went extremely opaque with the 400, then came back around with the finer grades, until after the 3000, they looked like this:
I removed the washer jets. One of them unclipped fairly easily, the other one broke which is a PITA as they are silly money for a sh!!ty bit of plastic.
The final coat is supposedly a UV protector - when I've restored lights on other cars, they're normally OK for a couple of months then back to cloudy. I'm hoping this special coating gives me a bit more time.
I have to say, the results are astounding. They genuinely look like new and make a huge difference to the car.
let's see how long it lasts. but for £25 and a couple of hours work, def can recommend it.
Did it by hand. I've previously used a meguars kit on my Golf that came with a drill bit buffer, but they went back to yellow v quickly.
There's no buffing involved with this kit. Just hand sanding, then the UV coat applied directly to the misty lights - that come up like new.
I think it's magic.
Any sort of coating that fills in the micro-scratches left after progressive wet sanding will result in an optically clear headlight, the question is longevity. 2K clear coat costs £15 and lasts forever. If this kit lasts as long I see a benefit in ease of application vs spraying.
When I did mine a previous "technician" who polished the headlights for the PO had kindly pre-broken one of the washer covers sparing me the guilt of doing so myself. They had just siliconed it back in place. To be fair, I also just put it back on with silicon instead of replacing, I'll never use it anyway.
Great job, done properly they make such a difference to how a car looks .
