Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace rears' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace rears' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know this won’t be for everyone, but I stumbled across this company doing conversions to allow for 993 headlights and taillights into 996 bodies:

For me it doesn’t quite work, I always thought that the 993 headlights looked a touch too small for 993s, and I think it is extenuated by the bigger 996 shell. But I appreciate the work that went behind it.

At first I thought they looked like that filler panel you can buy but they don’t look too bad. Tbh the original ones in my opinion have worn well and make the 996 the car it is today
That isn't as bad as I thought it would be. With modern LED style headlights the front works IMO. Don't know why anyone would change the rears. I do wish someone would do some work to make a heckblende for a C2.
It's not fair only the C4S got one!
Well...

Never seen one of these in real life, so can't comment on the quality or "authenticity" if we can call it that. Seen the odd NB 996 for sale in Germany with these on.
I've seen them but they do not look good imo. I reckon a fibreglass ducktail with recess for the reflector would be awesome. Making the reflector would be a challenge but not impossible. One to add to the project list!
Going the other way, 996 to 997 front lights (and associated panel) conversions were popular back in the day when the 996 was getting older and the 997 was a much more expensive, much newer car.
A few 996 with 997 looks are still around and can be cost-effective to buy. All Porsche parts so no Frankenstein issues.
Probably not worth doing any more since you can buy 997 for reasonable money now, and the 996.1 and .2 cars are best enjoyed in their original form as they age to 25 years and onward.
