Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

It used to be that Porsche (an other specialty marque) drivers would wave or flash their headlights to acknowledge each other on the road. Today, that rarely occurs. However, I plan to wave and/or flash my lights at each and every Cayman I encounter. Will that make me an outlier or simply obnoxious? Or will my fellow Cayman enthusiasts join me in resurrecting this tradition? schao

POST 3Original post

I'll give it a try for sure! When I had my Boxster the reception was indifference mostly but on occasion rude (got the finger once). I will not flash other Porsche's of any other type. The days of the Porsche community, at least in the US, are long gone.

POST 4Original post

I started the Porsche ownership experience in 1965 and the 'flash' was expected and welcomed. My last Porsche was a 1996 Carrerra four wheel drive and hardly any other owners recognized it. Hopefully the Cayman community will be different. It was fun. Edited by - Santa Fe on 09/18/2005 8:28:53 PM Edited by - Santa Fe on 09/18/2005 8:30:22 PM

POST 5Original post

I'm not sure that the porsche community in the US is totally gone, but I guess that it's not what it used to be. I haven't been to any DE or autocross events in awhile, but that's were you will find the community. Also, the cars aren't meant to be worked by amateurs anymore. we can change brakes and fluid, but beyond what can you do? Also with the new models and the 4-door sedan coming out in a few years, it's no longer a sports car marque. Try flashing a Cayenne!

POST 6Original post

In my Vauxhall VX220 Turbo I flash at fellow VXers and Elises (same chassis more or less). Usually get a flash or a wave in reply. I think it's nice to acknowlege fellow owners of enthusiast/rare cars, so I'll definitely be doing the same to other Cayman drivers when I get mine in March/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/regular_smile.gif
