Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, A while back i repaired my roof by having the plastic gears in the motors fixed, and then having to open them back up to level from the inside. Now for some reason my roof has unleveled, causing the white ball joint to pop out. I Looked at both left and right side when closing the roof and for some reason the left side is not fully closed vs right. Same thing on back side with clamshell. I can take apart transmission again and level it (I am guessing this is the problem) But I saw you can unplug the camshell cable, plug it into a drill and spin it to move the motor. I tried this and do not see it moving at all? Maybe I am going to slow? Has anyone done this before? I also saw this youtube video (not mine) where he does it by hand in minute 20:50

POST 2Original post

If you see no movement using the drill - something is wrong, perhaps a broken cable. There is also an alignment routine for the gearbox - where both sides should be aligned to a mark on the part that rotates to a mark on the body. Then you connect the cables.

POST 3Original post

The weird thing is the roof goes up and down without a problem when i click the button. So i am not sure how the cable would be broken? Unfortunately to see that i would have to take of the plastic to show the mark.

POST 4Original post

If the bell-crank on the gearbox isn't moving when you spin the cable core with a drill (hopefully not pulling the core out so far out of the sheath that it disengages at the other end with the gearbox) - either the cable or the gearbox is broken. They are the only things that could be broken unless you're misdiagnosing it, and the bolt holding the bell-crank to the gearbox has come lose. Not a big mystery here. Since the gearboxes had work done to them (which from my reading of your post - you didn't do - you had it done) - Eilenberger's Law #3 on Troubleshooting comes into play: Look where you last worked.

POST 5Original post

hmm interesting. And no i am not pulling the cable that it disengages. When I put it back it functions normally as i put the top up and down. But regardless, it is also weird that it got out of sync. I will take apart the gearbox again and see if anything inside has changed for this to happen. Worst case, I may buy a new cable if that is the issue that it is sometimes not engaging in the gearbox side.
