The original outer felt like seal had perished / gone hard so replaced with a new one from Porsche.

it's probably the original seal so it's 22 years old so no wonder it has gone old and perished a little.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

got it fixed when in at paul stevens near me in yateley at Purely 9.
morning all
i have used the sunroof and it seems to have pulled some of the outer seal back and its come away
is it possible to put it back on with the sunroof still in the car?
any recommendations for replacement seal? do I have to go oem or design 911? or can I buy a similar length and style/size of seal?
Thanks
all the seals are most likely made by Porsche due to the specialist nature, what you need is the part number / identification from the parts diagram
depending on the seal they should and can be refitted with the roof in place, but again it depends
I’ve had 2 seal issues with mine.
The original outer felt like seal had perished / gone hard so replaced with a new one from Porsche. This is like your typical door seal with metal inside to grip onto the edge of the bodywork and was just over £100 IIRC. If this is coming off then you could gently squeeze with some smooth faced pliers to increase the ‘grip’ of the metal inside the rubber.
The other issue I had was a really thin edge seal coming away from a metal flap which was part of the mechanism that appeared at the rear of the sunroof when in the (rear) lifted position. I pushed it back on a couple of times and it kept coming off. In the end I stuck it down with a tiny smear of black PU adhesive I had open for something else. Been fine since.
thanks all
it's the original outer seal that gas gone back. yes it's the one with the metal inside. I will try the squeeze option to see if it goes back on .

OPC keeps them in stock and cheaper than all the specialist or on line. : £122

he took it all off, cleaned it, put of bit of lube around a few area (ooeeerrrrr missus) and seems to be fine.
I don't use it that much but the wind was getting in above 50 mph so annoying.
I'd be interested to see what the seal cross section is like if anyone has a photo.
£112 is mental , should be about £6/m so £12 tops.
Mine is completely missing so I can't get a reference of what it's like.
I found these on EBay from China

I don't suppose the quality will be very good
They do lots of sizes but I think this might be the best option..the smallest
I actually bought a replacement seal from Porsche recently and fitted it to my C4S. I've been very disappointed how quickly the flock has worn off, so I'd be interested to hear how these cheaper rubber strips turn out!
