Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2009 base Cayman with the basic climate control. It has the AC max, floor, dash, and windshield buttons below the temp and fan toggles. The only symbol that comes on from pushing any of them is the up triangle when i push the windshield button. But the air only comes out the dash and floor no matter what buttons i push. I can see a green linkage on the actuator from the passenger side footwell and a pink/purple linkage from the drivers side. The green actuator will move when i push the buttons. The pink/purple actuator does not move. I did notice a pink/purple plug not plugged into anything. Any ideas on what to try? If I can't get it working on all 3 settings I would at least like to have it work on the windshield for defrost. Edit: I don't know why the first pic is hidden. It's just a pic of the green linkage on the actuator.

POST 2Original post

The purple connector looks like a Faraka connector, commonly used for antenna connections on Porsches. You mention only the one arrow lights up on the HVAC control unit? Is that on the LCD display? No temp or fan speed display? Have you checked fuses? That's where I'd start. The actuators aren't really a big failure item on the 987. I can't remember anyone reporting one that failed. The control unit however might be an issue. Question - do you have a Porsche specific diagnostics tool? (Durametric, Foxwell various models, POR2 or POR3, or PIWIS .) The reason I ask - all of these will allow you to directly address the control module, simulating buttons being pushed, and checking the "state" (0pen-closed) of the buttons on the unit. If you intend to DIY on a Porsche , a decent tool like the Foxwell NT510 with Porsche module, will pay for itself rather quickly by your not buying parts to use as a diagnostic tool.

POST 3Original post

I'll check the fuses. The temp and fan speed do show up, I was just referring to the arrows. I have the icarsoft scanner with their 3.0 Porsche software. I'll see if I can access the buttons state with it.
