i think i have fixed it - trying the simple stuff first, some electrical tape around the clips seems to have removed the slackness from the panel fit - nice and tight now and don't seem to rattle anymore to the touch

I know there are many creaks in a 996 cabriolet, but one of the most annoying is coming from these 2 trim panels on the catch mechanism - any recommendations to stop the rattle? Thinking perhaps blue tack on the catches might stop some, but wondering if others have found a better solution?
such rattles are very specific to a car but as you said some rubber foam tape will help cushion the movement that is causing the rattle
