Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a friend that is in the process of purchasing at 1999 Carrera four. It’s located in the LA area. It does not have the IMS retrofit done on the car. It’s got about 64,000 miles on it. I recommended that there were probably plenty of good shops in the LA area to do that. He’s gonna be flying into LA from Montana. And driving back to Montana. Any help with some outstanding shops that may be able to do it prior to him arriving to pick the car up and driving it back. Always appreciate the help that pelicans can offer. I don’t know anything about 996. I’m sure with questions about the car he’ll become an active part of the PP community.

Go to the LN Engineering website and check installers. Put in the zip and you should find installers authorized to do the work in your area.

Here is the most current list of Certified Installers: https://imssolution.com/certified-installers/ Most Porsche dealerships as well as independent shops have carried out IMS Retrofit and IMS Solution installations. Most purchase from a wholesaler such as SSF, IMC, Worldpac, Northside, or Altrom/AutoCamping, all of which carry LN Engineering products. Where usually there is a price difference is in what they actually do. Installers should be pre-qualifying cars prior to installation and for most of these cars, you can't go in with blinders on. There is a pretty hefty list of while you are in there parts that also need to be changed that most shops quoting low prices for changing out the IMS are obviously skipping or ignoring.
