This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone just trying to get some feedback. I have an opportunity to buy a 997 manual car. very clean condition only issue is it has the common scored cylinder issue. My question is what's the value of the engine the way it sits?? I already have a donor engine lined up to replace it with just trying to run the numbers to see if it is worth it . Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thnaks Luke

POST 2Original post

In my opinion 2-3k . Anyone buying a known bore scored engine know it's big bucks to fix correctly . Good luck with whatever you decide.

POST 3Original post

I saw your post about the 997 with a bad motor and was curious what you ended up doing? If you got the car, what was your decision on the old motor?

POST 4Original post

We have bought 3 in the last 12 month to get us ahead. We rebuild the heads, polish cranks and have cases sleeved to reduce our down time for clients. We paid on average 1500 CDN for each one. Cheers

"Rebuildable" according to whom? We have regularly seen what were described as "running and usable" engines that were total junk. More than beauty is in the eye of the beholder..................

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
