2010
987.2 Cayman
2.9, no
PASM
, 17" OEM wheels, 7/15mm ECS spacers is the only suspension mod.
Stock tire sizes are 205/55R17 and 235/50R17
Except for pretty much ancient tech PS2's and the
Conti
EC DSW 06 Plus (which is on the car now), almost nothing is available in these sizes.
I am going to need new tires soon, and I NOT impressed with the DWS's. Compared to the PS4S on my
911
, they simply don't grip. I live in South Carolina, and we almost never have winter weather, and even on those 2 days of 365, we aren't going to be driving the car anyway.
So, I'm thinking of going to 225/50R17 front and 255/45R17 rear. I'm torn between the
Michelin PS4
and the
Conti
EC Sport 02's. Those Sport 02's are apparently a completely different animal than the DSW's, and are $1,000 cheaper than the PS4's.
Is there anyone who has gone through this and can offer some guidance?
I’d buy what I’m impressed with on the
911
, just my two cents.
I've gone through tons of DWS on Volvos, VWs and Audis and they are nearly perfect for those cars. I once had some DW non S on my 07
Cayman
, but man the sidewalls were too soft for the
Porsche
suspension. Also 17's are a hard tire to shop for some reason. Have you considered moving up to 18s? I would think you could find some take offs or such and have a better tire selection. Although not so popular I run Bridgestone 19s on my 12
Cayman S
. They are reasonably priced and I don't mind driving the heck out of them.
I have the
Conti
EC Sport 02s on my
2008 Cayman S
, previously I had
Michelin PS4
tires on the car. For street driving I don't see much difference. I can't yet speak to how they will differ on the track as I haven't done a track event yet. One reason I bought them was the price difference, which was even larger when I bought as
Tire Rack
had two rebates running, one for buying four Continental tires and one for using their credit card, total rebate was $200.
