Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
We have seen claims for diagnostic and service capabilities for scan tools costing way more than this one that turned out to be total "vaporware" that "may be available in future updates".

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
You need to be careful of what you ask for; Massachusetts passed a state "right to repair" law requiring OEM's to give independent shop's access to their diagnostics system, commonly called "Telemetrics" within the industry.
Leading evidence: 'total "vaporware"' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'total "vaporware"' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair " law requiring oem's' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

That tells me as long as I replace the old battery with the same.

Unfortunately, the video does not show use of the diagnostic tool, so it does not tell me anything.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am considering one of these and having a bit of experience with other diagnostic scan tools, I have learned that what is advertized isn't always what the tool can do. So I contacted the manufacturer of the tool. They tell me one thing, yet other sites tell me otherwise - "Battery registration (for the same battery type and capacity with the original)". That tells me as long as I replace the old battery with the same. And what if I want to install a higher capacity battery? The 991 can take three battery sizes and therefore capacities.
Foxwell put me onto this YouTube site from Pelican Parts. Unfortunately, the video does not show use of the diagnostic tool, so it does not tell me anything.
Porsche Macan Battery Replacement and Reprogramming
Foxwell also included this screenshot in the email. Now I may be wrong, but that screen looks a lot bigger than the screen of a NT510 Elite. And as it should, it lists 4 windows to enter battery data in: Capacity - Type - Serial Number - Part Number.
Has anyone used one of these on a 991 and if so have they done a BMS Battery Registration and an ABS Brake Bleed?
The manual for this model does not even mention BMS battery registration:

Their FOXWELL NT809 (around $500) list the capability but does not list Porsche in the vehicles it can manage.
Considering they say one thing in the owner's manual, and another in another brochure; I would make sure the unit is 100% returnable and refundable before purchasing it. We have seen claims for diagnostic and service capabilities for scan tools costing way more than this one that turned out to be total "vaporware" that "may be available in future updates". If it don't do it right out of the box, it most likely will
never
do it. A lot of people have been trying to crack Porsche's proprietary diagnostic's system for years, only a couple have had any success.
EXACTLY! I am done with spending big $$$ on empty promises.
Reminds me of my Durametric Pro. I get this from them: "Thank you for contacting Durametric. The tool is capable of assisting with the overall brake bleeding procedure in 996 and 997 models, but not yet the 991. There are no dates determined yet for this support in the 991".
Well damn, its not like the 991 came out last month and you haven't figured it out yet. The 991 came out about 10 years ago.
The solution is simple. Just like the US forced OBD-II back in 1996 on manufacturers, force them to make all diagnostic codes available...or else you can't sell your car here. You'd be amazed how they would react to their biggest market.
You need to be careful of what you ask for; Massachusetts passed a state "right to repair" law requiring OEM's to give independent shop's access to their diagnostics system, commonly called "Telemetrics" within the industry. Several OEM's responded by shutting off the Telemetrics system on all the cars they sell or service in the state (leaving only the federally mandated OBD II functions active), to "protect the manufacturers from legal claims resulting from improper or unauthorized repairs". Net result is that the OBD II system cannot see any system not covered under the EPA's OBD rules, which were written three decades ago; and the loss of the Telemetrics also killed all of the extremely popular user functions such as remote start, alarm system alerts, and service required notifications on the owner's phone. A class action lawsuit resulted, but the OEM's have both time and an army of lawyers on their side, and current expectations are that it will take years to wend its way thru the court system, by which time everyone will have forgotten why they even asked. Legally, the courts tend to be on the side of the OEM's, as they claim repair diagnostics data and systems are copyrighted intellectual property and safety information, a legal definition tool Porsche has used to hammer the independent shops for years, and their position has been up held by the courts as PCNA offers full access to their almighty PIWIS system to anyone willing to pay the $20,000 per year leasing fee, which meets the letter if not the spirit of the existing pertinent laws.
